Demand for boarding is through the roof right now! 🚨🐾

If you're looking for dog boarding this summer, PLEASE check the provider has a valid council licence.

✅ It's not just a box-ticking exercise – it's the law.

✅ A licence means they’ve been inspected and meet DEFRA standards for safety, cleanliness, and welfare.

✅ It covers things like emergency plans, secure premises, and how many dogs they’re allowed to care for.

Always ask to see a licence – a good boarder will be proud to show you. 🐶💼

✅ Does your dog wear an ID tag?

Under the Control of Dogs Order 1992, every dog in a public place in England, Scotland or Wales must wear a tag that includes:

📍 Your name and address
🏡 Your postcode
📞 A phone number is optional, but highly recommended!

👉 This applies even if your dog is microchipped – the tag is still a legal requirement.

🚫 Don’t include your dog’s name
It’s not required, and many vets and dog professionals suggest leaving it off. Why? Because if someone steals your dog, knowing their name can make it easier to pass them off as their own.

🏷️ Example of a good tag:
Miss Yappily
22 Barkers Avenue
TW16 5HL
0207 7695346 (optional, but useful)

🐕‍🦺 Some dogs are exempt, including:

Registered Guide Dogs

Police, military, or customs dogs on duty

Dogs used in emergency rescue

Dogs working with livestock (cattle or sheep)

Gundogs while out working

Dogs used for vermin control

📌 Quick Summary:
✔️ Your dog legally needs an ID tag
✔️ It must show your name, address and postcode
✔️ Phone number is optional, but helpful
✔️ Dog’s name isn't needed – and best left off

🐾 April is Pet First Aid Awareness Month

Something we really value at Yappily 💛

Being a dog professional isn’t just about the day to day care, it’s about being prepared if something unexpected happens too!

That’s why all Yappily listed professionals are first aid trained
It’s simply part of the job, alongside their knowledge and experience.

If you’re first aid trained, this is one of those things worth showing
It might not always be visible, but it really matters when it counts

Give this a share and let everybody know how important it is to be prepared 👍

New laws as of today regarding dogs and livestock

New laws as of today regarding dogs and livestock

New law from today (18 March 2026): stronger penalties for dogs worrying livestock.

The Dogs (Protection of Livestock) (Amendment) Act 2025 strengthens existing law, including increasing penalties to unlimited fines and expanding police powers.

Livestock worrying includes chasing or causing distress to farm animals, not just physical attacks.

📣

If someone’s looking after dogs in their home or running a doggy day care from their home, they need a licence from their local council. It’s a legal requirement.

✅ Ask to see their licence
✅ Or check with the council online
✅ A licence means proper checks and standards are in place

If they don’t have one, it’s best to look elsewhere.

🐾 Did you know?

Boarding kennels and home dog boarding are not the same thing.

A boarding kennel is a purpose-built facility where dogs stay in individual kennels with set routines and shared exercise areas.

A licensed home dog boarder cares for dogs in their own home, offering a more personal, family/home-style environment.

✅ Both must be licensed by the local council
❌ But they suit very different types of dogs

So many dog parents think they’re the same, but they’re not.
Share this so more dog parents know the difference ❤
