Having the opportunity to see over 200 breeds of dog up close and personal is real learning opportunity. Being able to feel cost textures, see sizes and look at grooming styles brings the classroom to life.

This part-time role is well suited to professionals who wish to remain active in the industry or balance other employment alongside a teaching position.

Applicants should hold a minimum of a Level 2 City & Guilds Dog Grooming qualification and be committed to further study to become a qualified lecturer.

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming a beautiful Hovawart into Hartpury Dog Grooming — and what a stunning breed they are!

The Hovawart is a powerful, long-haired working dog originating from Germany, known for its loyalty, intelligence, and thick double coat. While their coat is naturally weather-resistant and relatively low-maintenance compared to some long-haired breeds, regular grooming is still essential to keep it healthy and mat-free.

✨ Our Grooming Process Included:
• Thorough brush-out to remove loose undercoat
• De-shedding treatment to manage seasonal shedding
• Gentle bath using coat-enhancing shampoo
• Blow dry and line brushing for a smooth finish
• Nail trim and ear check

Because Hovawarts have a dense undercoat, routine grooming helps prevent tangles and reduces excess hair around the home — especially during shedding seasons.

Today we’re shining the spotlight on this beautiful Keeshond 💙

With their plush double coat, striking “spectacles” markings, and iconic lion-style trim, Keeshonds offer students fantastic experience in:

✨ Coat preparation and thorough de-shedding
✨ Breed-standard styling and finishing
✨ Managing thick, dense double coats

Exposure to breeds like the Keeshond ensures our students have confidence and skills to groom beyond the everyday pet trim. It’s all about preparing them for real salon life — and that means working with a diverse range of coat types and breed standards.

We love being able to offer our learners these special opportunities — and we think you’ll agree, this gorgeous fluffball was an absolute star for their grooming session! 🐶✨
