Blown away by the dogs this week… and almost taken out by the wind! 🌪️🐾😂

Sunshine, torrential rain, named storms and wind strong enough to give everyone a questionable hairstyle. We’ve had the lot! And just when we thought things couldn’t get any stranger, Jaws joined us for a walk 🦈🤣

Between the soggy coats and fleeting sunshine, our club members have been busy learning, exploring and building confidence.

Our behaviour led dog walks give those everyday moments a purpose. We practise checking in with their walker, walking on a relaxed lead, building reliable recall and passing other dogs without needing to say hello to everyone. All while leaving time for a good sniff and enjoying being a dog 🐶🤍

We choose their walking companions carefully and adjust the pace, space and support to suit the dogs in front of us. For some, progress is coming back when called. For others, it’s calmly watching a distraction or finding the confidence to explore somewhere new. Those little wins matter 🥰

A big thank you to our team for braving the elements and to our clients for the towels and coats. Autumn is certainly making itself known! ☔️

November already… how has that happened?! 🍂🐾

We’ve got two more Neutrality Club walks for your diaries, and we’re starting with a little spooky fun! 👻

🎃 Sunday 1st November | 10am with Cass
Our Halloween themed walk! Costumes are encouraged for humans and dogs, with prizes to be won 🏆 Whether you’re bringing a little pumpkin or dressing up yourself, we’d love you to join in. Keep canine costumes comfortable and easy to move in, and feel free to leave the dressing up to the humans!

Another opportunity to build your dog’s confidence, practise calm behaviour around other dogs and strengthen your teamwork in a supportive setting.

Our neutrality walks help you understand your dog, recognise when they need support and practise handling everyday situations with more confidence. Being around other dogs doesn’t have to mean saying hello to everyone 🐕🤍

Okay, the image got your attention. Of course we train dogs. 🐾

Training is woven into our ethos. Starting with our walks, building better habits on the lead to helping dogs practise calm behaviour around the world. But if you’re struggling with your dog’s behaviour at home or out on walks, progress cannot depend on what your dog does for us alone.

That’s where our Behaviour Blueprint comes in. We work with you and your dog together, so you understand what your dog is communicating and feel confident making decisions when we’re nowhere nearby.

We help you recognise the telltale signs that your dog is finding something difficult, then build your confidence to tackle situations you may have avoided until now. Together, we work through real life challenges: how to manage the moment, how to support your dog through it, and how to teach them to cope and, eventually, thrive.

The goal is a better relationship between you and your dog, with the skills to enjoy more of life together. Life doesn’t have to happen behind a closed door. There’s so much more out there for both of you. 🤍

We’re looking at enquiries for regular dog walking, along with training consultations available for owners who’d like support with their dog’s behaviour.

🐾 Meet Callie! 🐾

This gorgeous 3 year old Akita is joining the LNC Canine Club family! 🖤

Callie is a rescue girl with a lovely temperament. After a couple of solo walks, she smashed both those and her neutrality work, so she’s now moving up to group walks. We’re so proud of her already!

Our focus will be on loose lead walking, learning to switch off her playfulness and exist calmly around other dogs, and walking as part of a pack. We’ll also be building up her time in the van, as crates aren’t her favourite, so we’ll be taking that at her pace.

Through structured, behaviour led group walks and thoughtful social matching, we’ll help Callie become calmer, more settled and more confident around her new canine friends 😊

We can’t wait to watch Callie learn, develop and flourish with the Club! 🐶✨

This week at LNC 🐾☀️

Sunny walks, happy dogs, and a whole lot of teamwork from our pack. Lead walks, loose leads, and plenty of tail wags!

Neutrality Club is back this Sunday at The Case is Altered, Eastcote. Come along for calm, relaxed practice around other dogs and distractions!

September can be an interesting month for high-drive dogs.

Summer may have given them more company, different days and more happening around them. Then ordinary routine returns and some owners suddenly become much more aware of the dog watching every car, tracking movement, scanning the environment or struggling to switch off.

I hear dogs described as “mad”, “obsessed” or impossible to settle quite often.

One of the first things I want to know is what that dog was bred to notice and do.

A Collie may become fascinated by movement. Kelpies are highly responsive to it. Shepherds can become very invested in monitoring what is happening around them.

Breed alone does not diagnose a behaviour, and I would never decide why a dog is reacting based on their breed name.

It does form part of the picture I assess.

If a clever, driven dog has no suitable place for those instincts to go, they can sometimes find their own outlet. For the household, that may look like chasing traffic, watching everything outside, intense scanning on walks or becoming increasingly difficult to settle.

Training therefore begins with understanding the whole dog, including genetics, environment and daily routine.

If September has brought one of those patterns into focus and it is becoming difficult to manage, our Fit Assessment gives me the background I need before recommending support.
