We never give up ❤️‍🩹 it’s been a slow process with Robbie… sometimes it’s been two steps forward and one step back, sometimes it’s been one forward and two back… but little by little, trust is being built, he is accepting me at his own pace… a Romanian street rescue that has also experienced major bereavement losing his owner. Robbie then lost his owner of 3 years who made his daughter promise to look after Robbie. Robbie is a spicy dog but he isn’t nasty… he’s insecure… he just needs to be shown the world isn’t such a cruel place.

As you can probably tell from the video, Milo the Great Dane has double hip dysplasia. Due to his hips he’s developed some strange walking habits so teaching him a solid heel command has been a big game changer for his owner! He was turned down by two trainers before me and I cannot for the life of me see why, he’s a gentle giant, his owner is fully committed to him and has gone above and beyond to make sure Milo can have as good a life as possible! Real pleasure working with Jay & Milo 🙏🙌💙

🚨🚨‼️HOT DAYS‼️🚨🚨☀️☀️🐕🐕

Remember folks, dogs sweat through their paw pads… in this kind of heat, avoid pavement walking as much as possible. Even when it feels cool with a breeze, the dog’s temperature regulation centre is constantly on the sun baked concrete. Try and get over to a field for exercise, let the dog move at their own pace… if you have a dog that LOVES frisbee or fetch or some kind of high energy activity, be aware the dog may keep working through discomfort because the pleasure centres in their brain tell them to keep going.

Also if the dog is to be in and out of water, every time they come out of the water, the water itself magnifies the sun and the temperature of the dog increases dramatically!

Enjoy the weather but remember our dogs are literally wearing a coat, often two and the only way for them to cool down is through the paw pads that are on the ground…. Before you leave to walk on pavement , place your hands/wrists on the concrete… if it feels too hot to be comfortable, it’s probably too hot for your dog!

Be safe, take a bottle of water, find spots with shade, have regular breaks and avoid pavement walking!l
