My diary has been wonderfully busy recently, and I’m incredibly grateful for every booking, enquiry and message I receive.

With the summer being in full swing, I’ve been a little overwhelmed! Therefore, replies and admin are taking me a little longer than usual. Whether you’ve recently enquired about my services or you’re a regular client waiting for a confirmation, invoice or anything else from me, please know I haven’t forgotten about you and I’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Rebecca’s Horses & Hounds is very much a one-woman show 😂. Between visits, walks, house sits, admin and caring for my own animals, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes.

🤎 Behind the Scenes…

Every so often, I’m asked what goes into a house sitting booking, so I thought I’d share a little behind the scenes of what it really involves.

House sitting is so much more than feeding pets. For the duration of your booking, I become part of your pet’s daily routine, allowing them to stay in the environment they know and love while you’re away.

Whilst I settle in enough to provide the highest standard of care, I never forget that I’m a guest in your home. I treat your property with the utmost respect, following your preferences, routines and any house rules you’ve left for me.

Alongside caring for your pets, I’m responsible for keeping your home secure and handling any unexpected situations that may arise. Whether that’s a pet emergency, a power cut or simply making sure everything is locked up each evening, I’m there to take care of it.

House sitting also means putting my own life on hold for a little while. I pack up my things, live away from home, and organise both my personal and work commitments around your pets so they can enjoy life as normally as possible.

Every pet is different, and whilst kennels or boarding are fantastic options for many, some pets are happiest staying in the comfort of their own home with dedicated one-to-one care.

You’re not simply paying for overnight care, you’re investing in continuity, companionship and the peace of mind that comes with knowing your pets can remain where they’re happiest.

My friend Ell runs a small business in making natural horse products, so I ordered some fly spray from them when the weather was perfect for flies. Not only is it extremely effective, but it’s reasonably priced and you get amazing customer service!

This week, I paid a visit to West Causey Walkies , with my dogs Oli and Finn! It’s safe to say they loved it, and I was thoroughly impressed with the facilities and space they had there. I will definitely be back again with my clients dogs!

Throwback to a lovely evening ride with Sally 🤎🐴

With the warmer weather here, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to share a little reminder.

Whether it’s walking our dogs or riding our horses, their welfare should always come first. During hotter weather, it’s often best to avoid exercising them in the middle of the day and instead head out early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are much cooler.

As someone who spends my days caring for both dogs and horses, I’ll always make decisions with their wellbeing in mind. If it’s simply too hot, plans can always be adjusted as their welfare will always come first.

After all, a walk or a ride can wait. Their wellbeing can’t. 🌿☀️

I just wanted to pop on and say a huge thank you for all of your continued support 🤎

Things are a little busier than usual at the moment, so replies to messages and enquiries may take a little longer than I’d like. Please don’t think I’m ignoring you, I’m simply working my way through everything as quickly as I can!

🐶🐑 A Little Reminder Around Livestock 🐑🐶

With the lovely boy, Aspen ❤️

Wednesday’s walk took us along a public footpath through a field of sheep, which meant Aspen stayed on lead for this part of the walk, even though his recall is impeccable.

It’s always important to keep dogs under close control around livestock, no matter how friendly or well-behaved they are. It helps keep everyone safe and stress-free; sheep, dogs and walkers alike 🌿

Being both a dog walker and a farmer’s daughter, animal welfare is something I take very seriously, and I’ll always make decisions with that in mind 🤎🐾

Just a few of the lovely faces I've had the pleasure of spending time with this week 🐾

Whether it's a regular walk, an adventure out and about, or simply some company during the day, it's always a privilege to spend time with such wonderful dogs.

(And yes, my own two, Finn and Oli, managed to sneak into the photo collection too 😂🐶)

🐾 Meet Aspen 🐾

This is Aspen, a lovely little lad with the personality to match 😊

He enjoys getting out for his walks, having a good sniff and seeing what’s going on, but he’s just as happy heading home afterwards for a bit of lounging and relaxation! 🐶

Aspen is great with other dogs and very much his owner’s boy - he’s always happiest knowing where his people are ❤️

I have the pleasure of taking him out for a 30 minute walk once a week, and he’s an absolute joy to spend time with 🤎

🐶🌿 Summer Weather Update 🌿🐶

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to share with the the warmer months coming up, I just wanted to share how I approach dog walking during hotter weather.

Your dog’s welfare will always be my priority, and because of that, I won’t carry out walks in temperatures where it may be unsafe or uncomfortable for them.

Where I can, I’ll always look to move walks to earlier in the morning or later in the evening when it’s cooler.

If that doesn’t suit, I’m more than happy to pop in instead, where I would be letting your dog out into the garden, topping up fresh water, and spending some time with them without the risk of walking in the heat.

Thank you so much for your understanding! Your dog’s safety and wellbeing will always come first 🤎
