🐶💛 Bailey's Recent Stay

Our lovely Bailey the Frenchie has recently headed home after another stay with us, and the house already feels a little quieter without him!

Bailey has truly become part of the family here at Hair of the Dog, and it's very much a home-from-home for him now. He settles straight in and makes himself comfortable as if he's always lived here 🥰

During his stay, he enjoyed his local walks, adventures on the secure dog field, and plenty of time doing what Bailey does best, snoozing on the sofa or curling up next to our resident old boy Buster. The two of them really are the best of friends, and it's always so lovely to see their bond.

Bailey also enjoyed joining us on our pub visits and simply being part of everyday family life. Whether we're out exploring or relaxing at home, he's happiest when he's included in the action.

He's such a sweet-natured boy and an absolute pleasure to have around. We can't wait to welcome him back for his next stay.

We miss you already, Bailey! 🐶💛

🌿🐶 A Much-Needed Little Break Away.

We've just got back from a few days in one of our favourite places, the New Forest 🌳🐾

As always, we took our senior boy Buster along for the adventure. At 15 years old, he's still enjoying his walks, albeit with a few adjustments these days as our little geriatric gentleman takes life at a slightly slower pace.

We spent our days enjoying quiet walks, beautiful scenery, plenty of pub grub, and simply taking some time to switch off and recharge. 🥾🍴🌿

With boarding being so busy lately, it was exactly what we needed. When you spend your days caring for others, it's important to take those moments to reconnect, recover, and enjoy time with your own dogs too.

Now we're home, refreshed, and ready for round two of summer ☀️🐶

It's hard to believe that my first year of boarding is nearly coming to an end. What a year it has been! I've met so many wonderful dogs and owners, welcomed regular boarders who now feel like family, and continued building the business I dreamed of creating.

As we head towards year two, I'm feeling incredibly grateful, excited, and ready to see what the next chapter brings.

🐶💙 Charlie Boy 💙🐶

What a character Charlie is! 🐾

This lovely rescue Staffie quickly became part of the furniture during his stay with us and settled in beautifully. From the moment he arrived, his sweet, affectionate nature shone through and it wasn't long before he had everyone wrapped around his paws 🥰

Charlie has enjoyed plenty of adventures, from exploring our secure dog field to enjoying walks around the beautiful surrounding area where we live. Whether he was out and about or relaxing at home, he was an absolute pleasure to have around.

He really is such a loving, gentle boy with a fantastic personality, and it's been wonderful getting to know him better 💙

We can't wait to welcome you back for more adventures soon, Charlie boy! 🐾

🐶💛 What a Busy Month It's Been! 💛🐶

May has been an incredibly busy month here at Hair of the Dog.

It's been such a pleasure meeting new dogs, welcoming trial stays, caring for regular boarders, and spending time with so many wonderful four-legged friends. From puppies finding their feet in a boarding environment to my regular guests making themselves completely at home, it's been a fantastic few weeks.

I'd like to thank all of my lovely clients, both old and new, for trusting me with your pets. It truly is a privilege to be part of their lives and routines.

After a very busy few months, I'm looking forward to taking a short break to recharge before a busy summer season ahead.

📅 Please note that I will be on annual leave from 9th–13th June.

Any messages and enquiries received during this time will be responded to as soon as possible upon my return.

🐶💛 Bailey’s Holiday Stay 💛🐶

Bailey has been having the best time during her stay with us.

With the warmer weather, she’s been enjoying her early morning walks and adventures over on the secure dog field, making the most of the cooler parts of the day ☀️🐕

She really is an all-rounder, loves a good chase, loves a ball, enjoys her enrichment time with toys around the house, and never says no to a tasty dental chew 🦴🎾

She’s even been enjoying her little grooming sessions with the brush 😍

It’s been so lovely having her stay and watching her settle into the home routine so naturally.

🐶💛 Benson Button the Cockapoo

What an absolute pleasure it has been looking after little Benson (aka Benson Button 🥰) recently.

For such a young pup, Benson integrated so well with his adult doggie friends and really showed how nicely he can socialise within a group. It’s always lovely to see puppies learning good manners and confidence around older dogs ✨
He’s got the sweetest little quirks, loved his snuggle time, and the way he would sleep on his back was just absolutely adorable 💤🐶💛
He really made himself at home here, and it’s been so lovely getting to know him and watch his little personality shine through.
I honestly can’t wait to see him again and hopefully be part of watching him grow up throughout his life 🐾💕

🐶💛 Resident Dog Spotlight – Buster 💛🐶

Buster and I first crossed paths back in 2014 at a rescue centre where I volunteered.

At the time, Buster was around 3 years old and I was still working as a hairdresser. After spending more and more time with him, I asked if I could foster him part time…and well…he became my very much failed foster 🥰

From the moment we connected, we became inseparable.

Buster completely changed my life. His kind nature, calm energy, and relaxed personality became my little bit of peace and comfort through life, truly my soulmate in dog form 💛

Fast forward to today, and Buster is now an amazing 15 years old.

Although he enjoys the quieter life these days, he still plays such an important role here at Hair of the Dog. His calm and gentle nature helps so many boarding dogs settle in, especially nervous or younger dogs who benefit from having a steady older dog around.

He really is the heart of the home here, and I honestly couldn’t imagine doing this life without him 🥹

Bailey is very much one of our regular boarders here now and truly feels like part of the family.

We’re always a little sad to see him go home, but we’re already looking forward to seeing him again soon.

Bailey has the sweetest nature and absolutely loves spending time with our resident old boy Buster. It’s so endearing to watch them together.

He really enjoys the slower pace and relaxed environment here, making himself right at home with plenty of company, cuddles, and time to unwind.

🐶💛 Oscar (aka Sausage / Roo) 💛🐶

It has been an absolute pleasure and privilege to look after Oscar recently.

I’ve known him since he was just a puppy back when I lived in Harlow, and I used to walk him right through from his puppy days into adulthood. When his owners moved away, and later I moved to Dunmow, I honestly thought I might not see him again for a long time.

So it’s been incredibly special to reconnect through my boarding service and have him back in my care after all these years 💛

I can’t believe he’s now a senior boy, but he really hasn’t changed one bit. He still has all his lovely little quirks, especially his routine with his bed and blanket, carefully covering himself up just how he likes it 🥰

He also absolutely loved spending time with the other boarding dogs while he was here, settling in so well and enjoying the company 🐕

It truly felt like no time had been lost at all, and it’s been such an honour to look after him again after so long.

I really hope to see you again soon, Oscar 💛🐾

🐶💛 Dudley – Part of the Furniture!

Dudley is fast becoming a bit of a resident boarder here, and we absolutely love having him!

He thrives on human company and is never far from where the action (or the cuddles!) are 🥰

His favourite part of the day has to be his walks on the field with all his doggy friends, lots of exploring, social time, and happy wagging tails 🐕

Such a lovely boy to have around, and always a joy to care for 💛
