***Missed Class - Sunday 7th April***
I am going to run the final class outdoors for those who can make it next Sunday at Birkenside Park in Gorebridge.
This class will be from 10-11am and we will work on our loose lead work and general behaviour being outdoors around other dogs.
I will email everyone that this class is available to later this evening! I have been unable to find a suitable time at Pathhead indoors to hold the class unfortunately.
Hope to see you there 💙
Have a wee video of me training the kids and the dogs 😂
**** CLASS UPDATE FOR TOMORROW****
Just giving everyone a heads up for tomorrow’s classes that our household has been hit with the dreaded vomiting bug and we have a few poorly kids! 🤦🏼♀️
If the final week does have to be rescheduled I will get in contact with everyone! I will try to message everyone this evening privately too and update the page here by 9am as to whether classes will be going ahead or not 💙
A wee video of George doing what he does best!
Clever boys this afternoon 💙
Practicing our leave cue whilst I go stand in the hall for 15 seconds with the door closed!
Back to classes today! 💙
As you can see George did amazingly well when out of his crate and his sit/stay whilst other dogs work around him is amazing!
We have lots of work to do on reacting to the very barky dogs whilst he’s in his crate but this is all new for him! Hoping the spaniel howl will subside but he’s too cute 😂
Ps, he’s not mine but I have some responsibility for training him as I convinced Becky Keeble it was a good idea!
Well done to everyone in class today! You all did fab for it only being the first week x
Envy proving that we don’t need eye contact when changing from a lie down to a sit ❤️
We do lots of work on listening in class and this is a really important skill to have outwith the classroom! It’s also essential to give your dogs time to think about what we have asked.
Our dogs watch us all the time and if we can split our verbal cues from our hand signals it will build the dog’s understanding of what we are asking!
This in turn will help with focus and listening going forward.
Well done Envy and Emma ❤️
We work a lot on focus and leaving things within the classes!
Here we have Dougal leaving a pile of treats on the floor with a simple “leave” cue from his owner. He is then rewarded with a higher value treat 💙
This skill is really important to have when outside. There are lots of things on a walk we may not want our dogs to eat or touch! If we can teach a consistent “leave” it’ll make walking outdoors on/off lead much less stressful.
Well done Dougal x
Kip 💙
This guy doesn’t need an introduction as you’ve maybe seen him before on the page!
He belongs to one of my lovely colleagues at work and this distance work takes a lot of practice 💙
Excuse my awful counting to ten but how amazing did all of these dogs do!
These owners will be building up the time spent away from their dogs over the next few weeks, gradually being able to leave the room to do simple things like make a cup or tea or nip to the loo ❤️
The difficulty with being at home is our dogs follow us everywhere! This is fine up until the point we have to leave them. Building up our mat work is helping these dogs be happy with the separation and feel more comfortable being on their own.
Keep up the good work!
Our beginner class today doing amazing with their mat work!
This doesn’t happen from doing an hour each week at class but the effort their owners put in at home 💙
This is only week 4 and look at the progress already!
Another of our gorgeous new beginners is Romy ❤️
We started our mat training today and all of the dogs were doing really well considering this is very new for them!
Keep up the good work!
The gorgeous Envy showing off her mat training skills earlier today ❤️
