At Rover’s Pet Euthanasia, every pet we help say goodbye to leaves a mark on our hearts. ❤️

I wanted to find a way to honour the beloved animals we have lost while also doing some good in their memory. I will be donating £5 from every home visit euthanasia appointment to an animal charity close to my heart.

Today I made the very first donation, £155 to Highland Wildlife Rescue - Jane and her volunteers do such an amazing job of rehabilitating wild animals across the Highlands and her hard work does not go unnoticed.

Thank you to every family who has trusted me during such a difficult and emotional time. Your pets will continue to make a difference, helping other animals in need.

I hope this small gesture can create something meaningful from loss, and keep the love we have for our pets living on in acts of kindness.

The most handsome and loved boy 🤎

We have a few thankyou's to make.
Thank you to each and every one of you beautiful people who have reached out either by a reaction, a comment or personally, it really has helped us through

Thank you to Melanie Veal at Crown Vets Inverness for guiding us and for caring for Buddy so well.

Thank you to Simply Pets for stocking Buddy's favourite food and treats, you were always so welcoming to him and ready to give nutrition advice.

Thank you to Alba Physiotherapy Veterinary Services for treating Buddy's aches and pains.

Thank you to Munlochy Animal Aid for allowing us to take Buddy home and have him in our lives.

Thank you Lisa from Oliver's Highland Pet Crematorium, you made today a bit more bearable listening to us talk about our beloved boy and being so incredibly kind to all of us. The setting was more than we could have asked for and we know that you will be so respectful with Buddy.

Thank you to Claire at Rover's Pet Euthanasia for being so gentle.

Thank you to our family and friends for the support throughout all this. You all love Buddy as much as we do and we know you are hurting too.

Thank you Rachel Shaw, Buddy's Auntie Rachie who was with us today and always took the very best care of him when we were away.

Thank you Mr AAC, Kenneth A Harper for your unwavering support. We will be able to look at photos and smile about our best boy at some point.

Lastly and most importantly, thank you to Buddy. You were in our hearts from day one, you were goofy, kind, a peacekeeper, king of naps, best friend to so many people and so many dogs. You changed so many peoples perception of Rottweilers with your loving nature and caring ways. You would welcome in every single dog to our home, show them where the treat cupboard was, show them the best p*e spots and taught them how to be dogs in some cases, taught them good manners in some cases but in every case you would be their pal, big or small you welcomed them all. We are so very proud of the dog you were, even today you were making friends in your last hour and showing everyone how special you are.

The outpouring of love and support over this past week has been incredible, we knew Buddy was special but to realise that so many of you knew he was special too is a real comfort.

Thank you all.

Wow - thank you all so much for your lovely kind comments, messages and reviews!

I thought I'd just do a quick post to tell you a little bit more about me personally. This is my little family - husband Ewan, daughter Isla and son Alan. We run a farm Culmaily Farm & Cottages just south of Golspie and breed beautiful luing cows. We have quite a few pets - 2 terriers Mini (black patterdale) and Massey (Jack Russell), 2 guinea pigs Roxy and Batman, a hamster called Biscuit, and 6 sheep! We don't have cats sadly due to living next to the a9 and having 2 terriers, but I do love cats!

I grew up on a croft just outside Dornoch and was fortunate to always have lots of animals. I always wanted to be a vet. I used to have a little book as a child where I would write down all the animals that I saved, which was surprisingly quite long! 😆

So why Rover's Pet Euthanasia? Rover was my rescue dog (he did have a lovely home before me, but sadly his owner had died) who I got in 2012 after I graduated. He accompanied me through many years of lonely night shifts on call, a faithful companion - loved sitting in my car and often refused to come out. Apart from one time he came out the window when I was arm deep doing a cow caesar... thankfully I can't remember the farmer being too upset. When I first met my husband, Rover emptied his a**l glands on Ewan's sofa... thankfully ewan managed to forgive us after I saved a calf for him the following week🤣

I lost Rover in 2019 due to trigeminal neuritis - likely a brain tumour. I really struggled with what to name my new business, but I figured what better way than to have my own little mascot - my way of remembering him.

Thanks for all the follows and shares. I hope that you won't need my services any time soon, but I will sure do my best to help you as best I can when the time comes.

Thank you again, Claire 🤎

Hello! My name is Claire, and I'm the face behind Rover's Pet Euthanasia 😊 Many of you will know me as I've practiced as a vet in Sutherland & Ross-shire since I moved back home in 2014. I qualified from the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies in Edinburgh in 2012. Being a vet has been a dream come true - I love being able to help people and their animals!

I started Rover's Pet Euthanasia as I wanted to be able to provide a kind and compassionate home visit euthanasia service for pets across the North Highlands. My hope is to bring a bit of flexibility, offering evening and weekends where possible. I'm based in Golspie covering a general radius of approx 50 miles, but I'm happy to travel further as needed.

I have recently teamed up with the absolute wonderful Lisa from Oliver's Highland Pet Crematorium to provide a beautiful put to sleep service at her pod - so you can find me there too. I'm forever grateful to Lisa for helping give me the nudge into end of life care for pets. If we didn't have this amazing local crematorium I would not have started my new wee business, getting to help families at such a sad time.

For those not looking for a home euthanasia service with me, but are looking for some veterinary care please follow Sutherland Vets for updates as I will be eventually doing some part time work there.

I will share more about my service with you all in the coming weeks and months, but if you have any questions at all you can reach me on 07824325989 or [email protected]

I haven't made my website yet, but will share that when it goes live! 😄
