Tips for this evening.💥

🐾 create a den area out of blankets and cushions, or give your dog access to its safe place
🐾 close curtains, shut windows
🐾 keep your dog's collar on in case it escapes
🐾 check all gates, fences and openings are secure
🐾 take your dog out for a wee before dark, then don't take it out unless you have to, but keep it on a lead
🐾 put music on - see my drumming music post.
🐾 relax! act normal, lower your own blood pressure. Panicking will make your dog worse. Do mediation, yoga, mindfulness, deep breathing, whatever

🐾 it's ok to comfort your dog but don't fuss it quickly, constant body pressure is much better and works by activating the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & digest), fast fussing and patting will be arousing, the opposite of calming
🐾 if you are really worried about your dog hyperventilating or vomiting, call your vet.
