Doggy Daycare & Home Boarding – Know the Law!

At this time of year, I receive a lot of enquiries about dog daycare and holiday boarding. While I don’t offer these services myself, I’m always happy to recommend reputable providers. However, I will only recommend businesses that have gone through the proper process of obtaining a council licence.

Many individuals advertising on platforms like Rover or Bark are not licensed, meaning any insurance they or you hold may be invalid if a claim needs to be made. According to DEFRA regulations, any paid home boarder or daycare provider must hold a valid council licence—it’s a legal requirement, not an option.

I know I mention this a lot, but it’s only because I care about your dog’s safety and want to protect you from potential issues.

If you are paying for dog daycare or home boarding, always ask to see their licence. If they say they don’t need one, contact your local council to verify.

Your pup’s wellbeing and your peace of mind is worth it!

It is with great sadness that we share the news of a pack member passing. Smithy has been a beloved part of our pack, joining us with his brother Alfie from nearly the very beginning of starting up Wise Walks Pet Services.

He brought so much joy to our walks, a gentle and sensible boy! Smithy will be deeply missed by myself and his walking buddies.

Rest peacefully Smithy. You will always be a cherished part of our pack. 🐾
