This post really speaks volumes about what we, the foodbank, are aiming to help with.
We are not simply a free food facility, we are hoping to help to keep pets at home, where they are loved and cared for and therefore prevent surrender to rescue.

This benefits not just the animals themselves but also the owners wellbeing and the pressure that the rescue centres are facing too.

A colourful installation in central London has stopped commuters in their tracks — featuring 1,330 pet toys spread across Tower Bridge. 🐾

The display was created by Woodgreen Pets Charity to highlight a hidden issue: thousands of pets are still being unnecessarily separated from their owners every year.

Each toy represents around 20 dogs and cats who could have stayed in their homes if the right support had been available.

New research from the charity shows that while a third of UK pet owners have given up a pet at some point, most actually didn’t want to — and many didn’t know help even existed.

Woodgreen says many separations happen due to health issues, behavioural challenges, or financial pressure — all problems that can often be solved with early support.

The charity is now focusing on prevention, offering free advice, training, and a national 24/7 helpline to help keep pets and owners together.

A simple city installation… with a very uncomfortable truth behind it. 🐾
