The First Steps Confidence Class dogs and handlers built up some confidence today with some gentle exposure to some different items today. Nail clippers and grinders, buster collars, muzzles, first aid kits, crates and different surfaces. 🐾🐶❤️

🐾Don't force your dog to interact with other dogs if they are not ready.

When a dog can’t get away and feels too much social pressure, they might snap, growl, or even bite to protect themselves.

Forcing dogs into interactions before they’re ready doesn’t help them “get used to it.” Instead, it teaches them they can’t trust us to keep them safe.

This can lead to more anxiety and even more reactivity over time.

The best way to build confidence is by giving dogs choice, space, and time to adjust at their own pace.

Trust grows when we listen to what they’re telling us. 💙🐶

I’m so excited to open bookings for the brand-new First Place Reactive Dog Club – 6 week course 🎉

This is the next step for those of you who’ve already done 1.2.1 sessions with your reactive dogs and are ready to keep building skills in a safe, supportive small group. Over the 6 weeks we’ll work on:
✨ Focus and engagement
✨ Coping skills in tricky situations
✨ Confidence and control for both you and your dog
✨ Plus plenty of support and encouragement from others on the same journey 💜

🐕 you’ll need a special code to book as bookings are currently open only to dogs and handlers who are already working with me, or who have recently completed 1.2.1 sessions for reactivity. If spaces remain, I may open places to others at a later date.
