ITS GRASS SEED SEASON! 🌾

This time of year we start to see cases of grass seeds getting stuck in dogs ears, noses, and feet & even in cats eyes!

🌾Grass seeds can cause an awful lot of damage, and once they embed under the skin they typically continue to track deeper and deeper into the tissue. This is because they are barbed, not allowing them to travel back the way they came.
🌾In worst cases they have been found in the lungs and even the brain.
🌾Look out for red swelling in between your dogs toes, snorting/snuffling, and constant head shaking.
🌾 Commonly occurs in spaniel type breeds due to their long hairy ears and furry feet, but grass seeds can effect any dog breed.
🌾Always check your dogs over after a walk and pick out any seeds from their fur. Where possible avoid walking them in places where there is an abundance of grass seeds.

If you suspect your dog or cat is effected, give us a call ASAP so that we can check them over, as intervention is required sooner rather than later to prevent the seeds from tracking too far. 01353 658333.
