Lately, we’ve seen an increase in patients coming into our clinic covered in fleas. This can be uncomfortable and a health concern for both the affected individuals and others around them.

If you or someone you know is struggling with flea infestations, please don’t hesitate to reach out for help. Our team is here to provide treatment and support to help get your pet back to feeling at their best.

If it’s been a little while since your last visit, remember we offer complimentary appointments where our vets can assess your pet and place authorisations for flea treatments. These products can then be conveniently dispensed by our team to help you get started on effective prevention and treatment.

Additionally, maintaining a clean living environment and treating pets for fleas are essential steps to prevent re-infestation.

Please be aware that Shrewsbury road is now closed until the end of August. You may need to leave in extra time to get to your appointment with us in Border surgery. Please give us a call if you are running late so that we can ensure that we can still see your pet.
Thanks for your ongoing support for team Brownlow.

🚧 Traffic management measures will be in place on Shrewsbury Road and Maes-Y-Clawdd , Oswestry until late October.

👷🏽 It’s while we install new drainage to the Innovation Park site; and while Pickstock Homes build a roundabout to access the new housing development. Working together will help to reduce future disruption to the highway network.

A summary of the traffic management phases is as follows:

▶️ Stage 1: Until 13 July – three-way traffic lights on Shrewsbury Road and Maes-Y-Clawdd.
▶️ Stage 2: 14 July to 31 August – Full road closure on Shrewsbury Road and Maes-Y-Clawdd.
▶️ Stage 3: 1 to 12 September – Road closure on Maes-Y-Clawdd only and two-way traffic lights on Shrewsbury Road.
▶️ Stage 4: 13 September to 29 October – three-way traffic lights on Shrewsbury Road and Maes-Y-Clawdd.

This can be seen on a map - see link in comments.

Access will be maintained to local businesses during this work.

Temperatures are expected to be very high this weekend, and it’s just too hot to safely walk your dog during the day.

🐾 Avoid walks during the heat – When it’s really hot outside, it’s just not worth taking your dog for a walk. Your pup won’t suffer from missing a walk or two — in fact, it’s much safer for them to stay cool indoors than risk overheating or burnt paws.

Remember, walks can wait until it’s cooler, but their health can’t. So, relax, keep them hydrated, and save the walks for cooler times. Try indoor games or shaded play with lots of water. Your dog will thank you!

🔥 Pavements can burn paws and the heat can cause dogs to overheat fast.

🚫 Do NOT leave your dog in the car – even for a minute. Cars heat up dangerously fast, even with the windows cracked.

Keep your furry friends safe this weekend. They rely on us to protect them! 💛

🐱Cat flu is widespread, debilitating & highly contagious.⚠️

Cases are seen frequently in unvaccinated cats due to the virus being spread by direct or indirect contact with infected cats, which means your cat can catch it from an area an infected cat has explored.

The best way to protect your pet is by vaccinating them every year. This not only protects them, but also decreases the spread of disease. Check with your vet today if your cat’s vaccinations are up to date.

Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of meeting Bobo the African Grey Parrot! He popped into our clinic for a nail trim with our newly qualified nurse, Olivia W 🩺

Regular nail maintenance is important for parrots to keep their feet healthy and prevent overgrowth and injury.

Bobo was very calm and such a cooperative patient, we hope to see you soon handsome! 🦜
