Project Harmless was founded in Edinburgh in 2021 to challenge greenwashing, disrupt outdated norms, and set a new benchmark for sustainability. In an industry where convenience often overshadows integrity, we create products that are truly sustainable, without compromise, without shortcuts, and without the usual greenwashing rhetoric. We began by tackling plastic pollution with our Harmless Poop
Bag, a water-soluble innovation designed to replace the billions of plastic waste bags discarded every year. Recognised by BBC News, STV, The Times, and Virgin StartUp, our solution ignited a global conversation on eco-fraud in pet care and the urgent need for real change. From there, we turned to fashion, an industry responsible for 92 million tonnes of textile waste annually. Harmless Atelier was created as a response, a collection of meticulously handcrafted, plastic-free accessories, made from rare, revitalised fabrics. Handmade in Scotland, each piece is designed for those who value quality, craftsmanship, and sustainability without compromise. In 2024, Project Harmless was named British Business Bank Ambassador for Scotland, further cementing our role in pioneering ethical solutions. That same year, we introduced Harmless Apothecary, a skincare collection that reclaims the art of slow beauty. Our palm oil-free, EDTA-free, and synthetic-free soaps are made in small batches, cured for 28 to 48 days, and handcrafted using Scotland’s naturally soft waters from Argyll and Bute, a fusion of tradition and innovation, designed with intention. We exist for those who think deeper, expect better, and demand more. This is just the beginning.
