update on Rosie🥰
Her training has been going amazingly and she has improved so much since we got her.
Separation anxiety has calmed down sooo much, no more biting the cage or trying to escape, only barks when she needs the toilet or we’ve left the house but calms down pretty quickly
Aggression towards people is improving slowly but she’s learning to be more trusting and even met some people for the first time and has given cuddles and kisses straight away🥰 still a long way to go when it comes to dogs but if she sees them in the street she looks and carries on🥳🥳
Dedication and consistency really goes a long way

Like all dogs she has her moments and pushes her boundaries but we deal with them the right way. Rosie has also shown signs of recourse guarding but we are managing it pretty well, we learned the signs of when she will guard and dealing with it by trading for higher value things but luckily her guarding level is pretty low and doesn’t choose aggression towards us (she holds onto what she has and becomes stiff and shows she’s uncomfortable with us being near what she has) we do everything we can to make her comfortable and to not make this worse as it can become dangerous. I highly advise to get professional help when it comes to recourse guarding as it can become extremely dangerous for you and highly stressful for your dog if you don’t know what your doing

But on a positive note we are so proud of Rosie she is continuing to improve and we love her so much🥰🫶🏻

BRILLIANT UPDATE:
So you all know we have been working with Rosie on her separation anxiety (amongst other things), we’re happy to say all our hard work and effort has been paying off🥰.
We have been learning a lot about separation anxiety ourselves as this is the first time living and having to deal with it. This has given me great experience on how to go about it the right way, I wont lie this has been extremely stressful! We have had things destroyed and have spend a lot of money on various things. But this past week we looked back on what works and what doesn’t. Including what we can do to prevent any damage to our stuff, we have been on top of it and it has worked amazingly 🤩.
MAIN ISSUES:she pushed the bottom of the crate out and was able to move the crate towards our bed and drag our blankets through the cage and rip it up and even part of the bed.
Barking, biting the cage and opening the top latch.
HOW WE HAVE OVERCOME THIS: First the cage moving, we had to buy strong glue and heavy duty Velcro straps and glue the bottom of her cage to the floor, obviously this isn’t a recommendation as I know this can damage certain flooring. However! this was a great solution for us as we don’t have particularly expensive flooring (this cage is the perfect size for her so I didn’t want to go out and buy another heavy duty cage so this was the best option).
Barking and biting the cage: she did this because she has a lot of energy that we were not getting rid of at the right times. Rosie is a high energy dog and gets the best exercise/ mind stimulation for her needs. Our problem was that we did this at the wrong times of day, so we adapted this. Whenever we need to go out, we ensure that we have plenty of time to do training/ playing/ exercise so we can release that energy meaning she can sleep and relax while we’re out of the house. This has been working amazingly for her and she isn’t stressed about us leaving, watches us leave and goes straight to sleep instead of barking. And because she has built a relationship with people in our house, if we are gone for a long time they can let her out for the toilet and play.
