New front fence and gate completed courtesy of Garden Oasis for the Gate and as usual Chelsea Supplies for our composite fencing.

Looking forward to putting down another 16metres of fencing on our “holiday” in the last week of September! (Well maybe Sindy will have one at least!

The long term plan is one day this will be the main entrance for Doggy Daycare.

🚧 Road Improvement Works – Pleasance Avenue, Dumfries

Essential surfacing works will take place on the A756 Pleasance Avenue, between New Abbey Road and Troqueer Road, from Monday 3 August to Friday 7 August.

To allow the works to be carried out safely, the road will be closed daily from 8am to 5pm, with a parking suspension in place throughout the works.

Please note that while we aim to reopen the road on time each day, closures may need to remain in place for longer if weather conditions affect the curing time of the surfacing materials.

✅ Emergency access will be maintained
✅ Pedestrian access will be maintained

Diversion route:
St Michael's Bridge Road – Whitesands – Buccleuch Street – New Abbey Road (and vice versa)

These improvements will help maintain the condition of the road surface and provide a smoother journey for road users.

🚧 Buccleuch Street Bridge closure – tomorrow evening (16 July)

Buccleuch Street Bridge will be closed tomorrow from 6pm to 10pm to allow the final stage of the recent surface dressing works to be completed.

This involves applying an encapsulation layer – a special binding material that locks the new stone chippings into the road surface. It acts like a protective seal, helping to hold the surface together, reduce loose stones and improve the long-term durability of the treatment.

Given the current warm weather, there's a possibility the material could cure more quickly than expected and the road may reopen before 10pm. However, it's impossible to confirm this in advance, so motorists should plan on the closure remaining in place until 10pm.

No dog ever died from missing one walk ⚠️

With highs of 31 degrees expected this week, it's vital to make these checks before walking your dog.

If the pavement is too hot for your hand for five seconds, it's definitely too hot for paws. While the weather is hot, opt for walks at dusk and dawn to avoid burnt paw pads and heatstroke.

And remember. If in doubt, don't go out.
