Things You Should Look For When Choosing Someone to Help With Your Dog✨

Choosing the right person to care for your dog is an important decision. Here are a few key things to consider:

✨Appropriate Insurance & Licensing

Any professional working in the canine industry should have insurance. Some services, such as daycare, boarding, and kennels, also require a licence from the local council.

Don’t be afraid to ask for proof of insurance or a licence number, any reputable professional will be happy to provide it.

✨Experience & Knowledge

We all have to start somewhere, but hands-on experience is invaluable. Working alongside other professionals, shadowing experienced handlers, and gaining practical experience helps build the skills needed to handle real life situations.

Qualifications and online courses are a fantastic way to continue learning, but doesn’t replaces practical experience.

✨References & Reviews

Client feedback can tell you a lot about a person and their service. I love sharing reviews and success stories because I’m proud of the progress my clients and their dogs make together.

Take the time to read reviews and ask for references if you’re unsure.

✨Safety, Routine & Individual Needs

Every dog is different. Some may need more management than others, while some have specific feeding schedules, exercise requirements, behavioural considerations, or medication needs.

Make sure the person caring for your dog understands and is willing to meet those individual needs to keep your dog safe, happy, and comfortable.

Not that I should have to prove a point, but over the weekend I received some backlash on Facebook. On a post that had nothing to do with dog training, someone apparently had a little too much time on their hands and made it their mission to tear me down in whatever way they could.

Aside from being disrespectful to burn victims, the comment was completely unnecessary.

Yes, I’m a balanced trainer. Yes, I use training tools. But that doesn’t mean I shut dogs down in the process.

If you’ve ever trained with me, you’ll know that I don’t want dogs to look flat or disengaged. You’ll know that I don’t introduce corrections until I’ve shown a dog what is right and what is wrong.

I take the time to build motivation, create a clear communication system, and establish reliable behaviours first.

Every dog in this video is wearing a training tool, and as you can see, they look happy, engaged, and confident. The results speak for themselves.

In regards to my post over the weekend, the dogs owner has been reached and hopefully there will be a positive outcome for everyone involved 🤞🏽 thanks all for your help!

I genuinely can’t understand how some people are still so uninformed about caring for dogs in summer. At this point, for some, it feels more like ignorance than a lack of awareness.

Please protect your dogs, heatstroke is real, heatstroke can kill.
