Yesterday was very bittersweet for us as we held a 'farewell with love' party for long-time regular Baby Bob Bulldog, and his mum a personal friend of ours, the lovely Tracy.
Tracy and Bob are spreading their wings and leaving the island to start a magical new life together.
Beautiful Baby Bob has been with us and loved by us all since he was the teeniest 12 week old pupper.
He's sincerely the biggest love-bug and we will all miss him coming to CK9 so much, but we know he and his mum are going to have the most amazing new life, and we wish them all of the happiness in the world.
We love you and we'll miss you both millions ❤️🐾🐕

🚨IMPORTANT🚨

There is a post circulating Facebook and the local pages concerning a dog named Odin that has unfortunately been badly injured at a doggy daycare here on-island.

We're so sorry to Odin's family that something such as this has happened at all, and hope that Odin is able to make a full and speedy recovery after his poor experience.

🚨We want to assure our loyal customers that this incident did not occur at our daycare.🚨

While we are so sincerely sorry to hear this has happened at all, we do always advise that minor cuts scrapes bumps and minor bites are always a possibility and may happen at daycare during some rough play. Should these ever occur within our care we are always 100% honest and transparent about it, report to owners, recommend vet visits straight away, and follow up with advice and aftercare.

Integrity is absolutely at the forefront of our business, and should be with any other place also caring for a member of your family.

We are always happy to show clients into our daycare to view areas that their dogs will be cared for, and we have ALWAYS separated dogs according to size, play style and personalities to ensure the safest size appropriate play environment possible.

Our staff are appropriately trained experienced and knowledgeable, as well as us all being dog owners ourselves, and despite there being no local animal regulations we follow UK laws and regulations with regards to staffing levels, and always ensure there are no more than ten dogs to any individual person, as well as having a max capacity of dogs at any one time that we do not exceed.

We are fully insured with both building insurance for any issues that may possibly occur with our premises, and public liability insurance for any serious incidents should they occur, between the dogs.

The safety of your dogs is absolutely paramount to us.
It isn't about numbers money or packing as many dogs as possible into our space.
We have a duty of care to every single dog that we care for, and our top priority every single day is the health happiness and comfort of all of your dogs that we treat as our very own.

Our hearts absolutely go out to Odin and to his family.
Hopefully whichever daycare this incident occurred within will learn and improve, to ensure nothing like this happens again within their facility.

🐾 Personal notice from Matt and Laura - Please read 🐾

We'd spent some time trying to work out how to write this.
We posted to our family and friends on our own personal pages but had to take a few days to be able to share with the CK9 community why we've had to take some time away.

On Sunday evening into the early hours of Monday morning and exactly two weeks after his 12th birthday, we had to help our beautiful Husky baby Blue cross over the rainbow bridge.

He'd endured an extremely short but aggressive suspected brain tumour.
Unfortunately we don't have any neurological veterinary equipment over here to diagnose it sufficiently, but with his pattern of behaviour and how horrifically it took hold, we're all pretty convinced.

Our hearts are physically aching, comforted by cuddles from his little sister Poppy, the kind words of our staff, family, and friends, and the lingering Husky fur clinging to all of our clothes.
It feels incredibly unfair that he was taken so suddenly, but we are also just so thankful that this wasn't prolonged.

Not everyone understood Blue, but we've come to realise he really made an impact on everyone that met him.
We've been looking back on so many happy and funny memories about him. Every single day he did something funny and created a brand new story, and even as he aged ungracefully he still had such a young spirit.
It's these stories and memories that are bringing us peace right now.

Towards the end he was very calm and let us know it really was his time, and though it doesn't make any of this easier and we'll miss him more than we could ever say, we would never have let him suffer.

September is the birthday month for Comfy K9 Doggy Daycare and if it wasn't for Kira and Blue we wouldn't have the business and the community that we do, so this month will forever now feel a little bittersweet for us.

We'll miss you, so much baby Blue. More than words can say.

We want to thank anyone that loved and cared for Blue. We've already felt very touched and moved by people's words.
We'll try our best to be back in daycare asap but we now ask for privacy and patience during this time while we grieve as a family.

Rest in peace little grey wolf 🐾
