Adult woodie dropped off this morning who's damaged her wing and can't currently fly so shes spending some time in the woodie avairy to see if it can repair over time. Seems to be the tendon that's damaged, usually they don't heal to full flying abilities sadly, but we will hope and see 🥰

I will always have the biggest soft spot for the lovely, shell shocked looking wood pigeons 😄🪽🪽

Chico 🥰

Chico the young woodie was brought over to live in the woodie avairy by a lovely fellow rescue friend 🧡

Chico was raised by a caring couple after falling out of a tree as a baby resulting in some issues with one side and one foot. She couldn't be left out in the wild as can't properly fly so would be a sitting duck. She's an adorable little woodie and had been doing fine in the wood avairy, but when I went up yesterday she literally ran over to the door, when I opened it she jumped up onto my hands 😌

She isn't fully wild but definitely not tame but she was telling me this isn't for me right now ha. I brought her back to my little garden avairy and she has been filling her crop and preening herself, and I've decided I'm not going to rush her being in there full time. She looked completely out of her depth and not at her best yesterday and with the weather as it is I couldn't chance leaving her outside.

You have to use your eyes and instincts and recognise what a bird needs in rescue. So for now Chico will see the new year in until she's much stronger to handle a shared outdoor avairy. I've just ordered her a foot split to see if I can help correct her effected toes 🧡

Happy Saturday people!

Last week when driving through Tickhill I saw a sacred young dog literally weaving through the traffic on the main road 🥹 A few runners tried to catch her but she legged it up to the church. I followed her in my car and kept trying to get her to come to me but she was too nervous. Eventually she chased a cat into a drive and I managed to contain her by closing gates! (Cat got away unharmed 🙏)

After a few hours me and lots of lovely people from King Edward Road got her into my car with treats and then she turned into a lovely playful pup!

She had no collar on and was naturally nervous of humans so I felt something was a bit off. James Herrington very kindly offered to look after her as he's a dog trainer, has kennels and is very skilled with dogs. Micro chip showed some previous owner details but no one has come forward and we are not sure if they are going too 🥹

James decided on the name Olive 🫒 and I think it's perfect!

I've set up a go fund for lovely Olive and for James and his family and any other rescue dogs they have 🥰

If anyone can donate please do 🐕

Olive is staying with James and fam until an owner comes forward, and if this doesn't happen he will find her a suitable home through the proper channels of house checks, rescue contracts. Xx

One very precious little feral who it turns out has been shot straight through the wing and the wound internally is very deep. I'm constantly cleaning, and she's on antibiotics twice a day to try and get back on track. She is such a lovely little patient 🥹 I've had to really keep deep cleaning her wound to remove infection, and keep the area properly treated and she is such a little superstar when I do so 🌟

Picked this little love up early this morning who appears to be struggling with an illness. Heat, meds and food should see her right.

I can always tell the female piges as they tend to be very vocal and love a good grunt 😆❤️

I am struggling with funds at the moment so if anyone could help that would be so appreciated 🕊

It's been quite the day! 🦚

A lovely concerned lady from Finningly contacted me about a pea hen she has been watching over and feeding for 9 years 😌❤️

The lady had noticed a detoriation in peahen and that she was no longer able to roost at any height, and had been just sitting in a neighbours garden for the last few days. As soon as I saw peahen and picked her off the ground it was clear she was severely under weight and very poorly. I immediately spoke to my very knowledgeable and wonderful friend Linds wildlife rescue and decided to take peahen straight over to Derby.

When I say Linds is the messiah of animal rescue that is no exaggeration, what she doesn't know ain't worth knowing 😬

Peahen is now in a hospital cabin and has been wormed and put on antibiotics. She is terribly thin and anemic but I know there is no better place for her ❤️

The lovely lady-Gail has watched over and fed peahen for nearly a decade so she was obviously very emotional, but very grateful for the help 😊

Fingers and toes crossed for this beautiful creauture.

Birds in captivity... it's a difficult subject really isn't it. I am very open minded and always respect that some people think this isn't the right decision. It's not like the birds can tell us 🙃

What I try to create is a natural and clean environment full of peace and enrichment, and that's all I can do really.

I feel very lucky to have a small piece of woodland so the birds are very much in the heart of nature ♥️

Also we have some autumn babies! Another debatable subject 🫣 however my beautiful white feral absolutely fought for her life to stay alive, it took me 5 months to get over over her wing infection and she's been desperate to be a mumma so who am I to stand in her way! All hatched babies are of course released into wild flocks 🕊

Happy Sunday beautiful folk ❤️

Apologies for the lack of posts, life has been very busy and also quite tough to be completely honest, but I'm relieved to say all my feathered wood avairy birds have done amazing with the fireworks and are all thriving!

I've spent alot of time at the wood the last few days doing thorough checks on everybirdie... the woodies particularly love this 🫣🤣🥰 but it's necessary, and they're all such a great weight and although they've been through the moult - look very healthy!

I know I shouldn't have a favourite....but my Dolly and her lil quiff 😌🥰🥰🥰
