This post resonates deeply with us because we have always known why we do this — for the animals, always the animals. Knowing that you’ve helped in some way, no matter how big or small, is what helps us sleep better at night.
There are so many unpretty sights that come with helping these souls that are never seen: the daily cleaning, litter boxes, messy and stinky trays, sacrificing parts of your living space to keep them safe, cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning, spending your wages, fuel costs, vet trips, emergencies, food — all just to ensure their wellbeing. And the list goes on.
The only reason we ever began posting was because a larger local rescue made derogatory remarks about us, calling us “cowboys with cages” to protect themselves and hide the darker side of “rescue.” But the real reward has never been public approval.
The real reward will always be the simple knowledge that you helped — and that their world is now a better place because of it. And for the speckles of bad we’ve experienced along the way, we have also met so many truly amazing people who inspire us and who we look up to.
“But the Cats Did.” A Tribute Series
A visual and emotional tribute to the quiet rescuers. The ones who are never in the spotlight, but always show up.
They never asked for recognition.
They didn’t post selfies.
They weren’t praised on stages.
But they walked into the storm… ☔️ trap in hand… heart on fire ❤️🔥
The world never knew their name.
But the cats did. 🐱
This piece is dedicated to the quiet ones the real ones.
The rescuers who show up without applause 👣
The ones who give their time ⏳, their tears 😢, their everything for the voiceless.
Your love leaves paw prints no one can erase. 🖤🐾
