Max 💙

Weighing 175g upon check in on 8th September…

10 days later this handsome chap now ways 313g 🤩 As you can see his spines are growing back nicely and he has built the most amazing nest in his green pod 😍

A little update regarding Princess Elsa.. She was very up and down with her weight and eating and produced a horrible green mucousy 💩 - It was tested and confirmed she had lungworm (video attached in comments for anyone who wants to see!) 🥺 She swiftly went back to the amazing team at RRHH and she started meds within minutes of us getting her there! She is putting on weight and doing very well!! 🥰

It won’t be long before Max reaches the weight where his next phase of rehabilitation will begin! ❤️

Since leaving my RVN role mid-August I have been kept busy with wild babies!

I have been fostering for a local hedgehog rescue for a few months .. I’ve recently upped my capacity to 2 zoozones to free up the more experienced volunteers to triage and look after the super poorly ones! (Which there seems to be an influx of at the moment 🥺)

My current prickly guests are:

Max - A tiny little dot who has already put on 20g in 2 nights 😍 He had ringworm, was treated and got the all clear and as you can see in the last picture awaiting his spines to grow back 💙

Princess Elsa (🙄) named by my Frozen obsessed 2 year old!! - Elsa is a very beautiful girl who was scooped up from a road in Marham I believe.. Thoroughly checked over, clear poo samples so just awaiting her to eat her way to over 400g and off she will go to the next phase! 💖

On the day I picked up these 2 hedgeys.. I handed over my little peeper friend (squab/juvenile wood pigeon) to my amazing friend Lisa - Little Pidge has gone to stay in an aviary for 1-2 weeks to learn to be wild and not so dependent on humans (as he was VERRRY needy!!) … He will then come back to me and be released in my garden where food and water are aplenty and he has plenty of pigeon company! 😍

I didn’t have time for this previously, even in an animal based role - The inpatients obviously took priority and my home life was non existent. I took a few weeks to breathe and find a new normal and I was ready to devote time back especially to wildlife 💚

Stay tuned for my Elsa and Max updates … Plus whatever else comes through my front door 😁🐾
