A lovely house stay with Oscar 🐾🖤
I’ve had such a wonderful time looking after Oscar — a calm, gentle soul who has been an absolute pleasure to care for. His owner very kindly allowed me to bring Bobby along too, which is never something I expect or assume. Every dog is different — some love canine company, some don’t, and some may enjoy other dogs but not every dog they meet. For that reason, I would only ever consider bringing my own dog if the owner suggests it first, and if so, Bobby would attend the meet & greet to ensure everyone is completely comfortable. It’s never essential to my service, but it was such a lovely bonus on this stay 🥰
The best part? Oscar and Bobby got on beautifully. Despite their age difference, they found their own rhythm — a little play, lots of chilling, sleeping side by side, and Oscar even wandering around the house looking for Bobby when he couldn’t see him 🥹
We also enjoyed some gentle potters down the lane together — slow, steady and at Oscar’s pace. Even though his legs aren’t what they used to be, getting out for a little wander, taking in the sights and having a good sniff is so important for their mental wellbeing, and he absolutely loved it 🐾🌿
This stay was a great reminder of why no two house stays are ever the same. Every dog has their own needs, routines and quirks, and that’s something I genuinely love about this job. Oscar’s care looked different to others I’ve done — from medication, to a bit of extra support getting comfortable, to the occasional indoor accident — all completely normal and handled with patience and care. He is truly no trouble at all, just a lovely older gent who deserves comfort, dignity and familiarity 💙
And that’s exactly why house stays are so important. Being in their own home, with familiar smells, routines and surroundings, allows dogs — especially older ones — to feel settled, relaxed and safe.
Thank you for trusting me with your home and your very special boy. It’s been an absolute pleasure 🐾
