Ashbourne Market cancelled today ⛈️ ☔️ see you all next week 🤞
⚠️ ASHBOURNE THURSDAY MARKET – CANCELLED TOMORROW ⚠️
Unfortunately, we’ve made the decision to cancel tomorrow’s Ashbourne Thursday Market (Thursday 27th August) due to the forecasted heavy rain and risk of thunderstorms.
Following the recent hot and dry spells, the ground is extremely hard and dry. Heavy rainfall onto ground like this can struggle to soak away effectively, increasing the risk of surface water and localised flooding around the market area.
Combined with the risk of thunderstorms, we don’t feel it’s sensible or safe to go ahead.
It’s never a decision we like to make, especially with our traders preparing for the day, but the safety of our traders and visitors has to come first. We also wanted to make the call this evening rather than leave everyone waiting until the early hours of tomorrow morning.
We’ll be back on Shrovetide Walk next Thursday and hopefully with some much kinder weather! 🤞
