After an absolutely brilliant 3 days at the IGL championship held at Lauder (Eskdale Shooting Services) by kind permission of Wilson Young Snr and Wilson Young Jnr. The line was perfectly managed by Head Keeper Adam Liddle, the guns shot fantastically over the 3 days and beaters that stood out on the hill in the rain and wind. We managed to finish the championship with FTCH Craigmaddie Mufasa of Bishopbrae (Ace) and was awarded 4th place after receiving 3rd place in 2023.
Well done again to Fraser Forbes who won the IGL championship with FTCH Carnochway Red Rooster and everyone else in the awards.
It was a great honour to be able to qualify and compete at the championship for the 5th time with Ace. 57 dogs that had qualified for the 2025 Championship it was going to be a tough competition with the best dogs and handlers competing from across the UK and Ireland, it’s a great honour to call many of them friends. It was even more special for so many Scottish Handlers to qualify for this year’s championship and with 3 of them finishing.
I would like to thank all my family and friends who have helped along the road with this journey with Ace, it is greatly appreciated. It’s maybe not always been an easy one, but certainly has been enjoyable one for sure. Ohh and not forgetting Fern Logan who has given up her birthday for me to play a fancy game of fetch with my dog and throughout the year.
A special mention to our great friend Anne Faulds who allowed us to our OFTW Devonvale Shadow on her OFTAW Tomtain Alchemy to create this special litter and dog, we will forever be grateful to Anne for this.
A major thanks to all the clubs, the IGL, secretaries, judges (Mike Tallamy, Mark Demaine, Terry Prentice and John Williamson), helpers, keepers and guns up and down the country who have given up their time to put on the field trials for everyone to compete it in!
Now it’s time to just enjoy the dogs for the rest of the season.
