😻 Give Sweet Renee a Second Chance at Love! 🏡

Sometimes in life, all we need is a chance. Renee is searching for a home that will accept her—not for being the perfect lap cat, but for being a feline who desperately needs and wants love, even though she doesn't quite know how to accept it yet.

Renee came from a recent colony and was initially all beams and enthusiasm—her little face lit up at the sight of food, and she rubbed her tail around legs! But approach her, and she scarpered off. Being afraid is all she's ever known.

Her Journey So Far:
• She is now neutered and safe.
• She is forever visible in wanting love, but is currently too scared to let her barrier down.

The Special Home Renee Needs:
Renee requires a quiet, understanding environment where she can blossom at her own pace.
• Adult-Only Home or a home with older, patient children is essential.
• She needs a family that will offer her time and patience above all else.
• Other cats would be fine in the home.

⏳ She may take a week to come around, or she may take six months. But she absolutely deserves that chance to learn what it means to be safe and loved.

Pickles is a 20 year old female cat who has come into our care after her owner died. This girl is very sad at the shelter and desperate for a sofa to curl up on and live out her days.

Pickles has an overactive thyroid and is now on medication for this. She would be ideal for an indoor only home and does not like other cats.

Pickles can be adopted under our Long Term Foster Scheme whereby we will continue to provide her veterinary care via our Lewisham clinic.

To learn more about Pickles please visit our website celiahammond.org.

ADOPTION PROCESS:

Because our cats are rescued we do like to meet potential adopters this can either be at your home (home visit) or via a video call e.g WhatsApp this is an informal visit to provide advice about caring for cats or kittens e.g health care, feeding, settling in and also an opportunity for us to feel reassured that you could provide a good home.

Following a successful home assessment we can make an appointment for you to come and meet our cats.

We are prioritising homes that are local to our centres. Lewisham Branch Homing catchment area: All SE London and BR (Bromley) postcodes. Also N.Kent (Welling, Bexley, Sidcup, Swanley, Dartford), Croydon and SW London (SW8, SW9, SW2, SW11, SW4, SW12, SW16) If you can offer a home to a 'harder to rehome' cat we will consider homes outside our usual rehoming areas.

Our Rescue Centre reception is also open every Saturday and Sunday afternoon between 1p.m and 5p.m for potential adopters to drop in to meet us for an initial chat about adopting one or more of our cats. Our address is 233-235, Lewisham Way SE4 1UY - please bring a donation of cat food to help us feed our rescue cats.

⚠️ THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ⚠️

From Protected Paws Animal Rescue and every animal rescue out there.

We are angry, exhausted, heartbroken and drowning.

The phone will not stop ringing.
People are having a Christmas clear-out of pets like they are disposable.
At the same time, we are dealing with true medical emergencies animals coming in broken, bleeding, suffering while vet bills skyrocket to eye-watering amounts.

Fosters are going away for Christmas.
Owners are telling us “I’m leaving TODAY, the animal has to go RIGHT NOW.”
We are being met with constant abusive phone calls.
We are told we “don’t care.”

Let us be very clear
We care so much it is destroying our mental health.

Our team is being pushed to breaking point.
This is affecting our health, our sleep, our ability to keep going.

And please understand this:
What you think is an emergency we can assure you, we see real emergencies.
We are talking legs hanging off, eyes hanging out, animals in unbearable pain.
Those animals come first because if we don’t act, they die.

It is very, very sad how badly animals are being let down.
And right now, we are sinking fast.
