When walking a small dog with a larger one, it's beneficial to channel the larger dog's predatory instincts by giving it a designated task. This will minimise the likelihood of the larger dog instinctively chasing the smaller one, creating a safer environment for both pets. Typically, this interaction can lead to playful games between the two, much like in these pictures where the German shepherd is carrying her favorite tug toy.
