Until I can move some birds to more appropriate rescues for release, I am unable to take more in.

Right now, the only birds I have space for are sparrows, feral (town centre pigeons - any age) and BABY wood pigeons. This is because I can manage these guys from here and don't have to outsource release for them.

Everywhere is busy, everywhere is slammed. Everywhere has limited funds and supplies. It's hit a point now where I have to fully control what comes through the door to make 100% sure that their needs can be met FULLY here.

Sorry to have to be doing this, but it's in the best interest of the animals currently here.

Little House martins and swift safely transported to Leicestershire wildlife hospital! Big shout out to Carol for driving them all that way and then bringing some pigeons back from our vet for rehab here! Super dooper driver trooper! 👌

Sorry to do the begging thing again but we're running low on critical care formula, avipro (again lol) green needles (used for fluids and antibiotics) and puppy pads if anyone's got a bob or two spare x

Had to share. Sadly a bell isn't enough for nestlings, but it's something.

The legendary broadcaster shared that Britain's cat population has been estimated to kill around 55 million birds each year as they roam outside. 😞🐱

While he certainly didn't vilify cats, Attenborough suggested a way we can ensure our beloved felines cause as little damage as possible to garden birds. The solution couldn't be simpler or more glaringly obvious - pop a bell on their collar. He says this could reduce cats' "hunting success by a third". 🔔🐦

Another handy tip to stop cats from hunting unsuspecting birds is to bring them indoors during critical times, such as dusk and dawn, when birds are at their most active. These periods also overlap with the optimal hunting time for cats. 🌙🎯

One additional highly recommended, expert-endorsed step is to place bird feeders substantially higher up, well beyond the reach of prowling pets - and at least two metres away from dense vegetation. 🌱

The difference a day makes....

And we have a whole nest of baby house martins! Have done amazingly well overnight and feeding great. They're all cleaned up and off the blue roll now tucked up in a cosy nest. Blue roll is great way of initially monitoring p**ps (very important part of bird rescue! - rescues LOVE looking at p**p 🤣)

When they're a little older, these guys will be transported a bigger wildlife hospital. They came in pretty cold yesterday and since they're so young and on every 15 min feeds, I don't want to put them through the unnecessary travel. They are time sensitive with release when a bit older and I don't deal with their release here.
