Wild camping π¬ technically not legal, but also not the worst crime in the world! Probably tresspassing.. who knows π€£
Apologies for the slow replies and our week away from training. I know dogs still need training, but a spontaneous break from work was definitely needed.
We had absolutely no plans. We finally found a campsite with space not too far from where we were by the lake, but it meant packing everything in and out of the truck. Just thinking about it felt like hard work.
So... we stayed lakeside instead π¬π€£
It's not for everyone, but it's literally dream material for me. Not everyone has two Mali's and a Rottweiler for insurance either. Waking up with the lake only a couple of metres away was something else.
Any accommodation anywhere near the lakes would easily be Β£500 to Β£1,000 a night, and you'd still be much further back from the water. It cost us nothing but a few funny looks π€£π€£
The kids had the best time of their lives, and so did the dogs. The kids stayed in the tent with their mum and I stayed on a blow up bed with the dogs under a tree. It rained one night, so I pulled the blanket over me and the dogs. My deal was if the rain came through the blanket, I was out of there. But I woke up in the morning with 3 dry dogs! The tree did most of the leg work!
By the end of the trip the dogs got a little territorial. They genuinely seemed to think we'd moved in. Any off lead dogs wandering into "their" space were "politely" informed they weren't welcome. I interrupt this behaviour, but it's not something I correct. We don't want off lead dogs running around us in any case.
Any males approaching/passing our camp were watched very closely too with a slight grumble, mostly Thalia and Athena in the evening. Again, not something I correct, but I will interrupt and let them know I've seen it too.
The first night wasn't the awkward part. The fifth night was. We'd basically moved in at that point π€£
The kids kept saying, "One more night," and honestly, I didn't need much convincing.
They had the best adventure!
Most importantly, I completely let go of the pressure of work. Anyone who knows me knows I take work very seriously, sometimes too seriously. It can consume me and everything I do.
I can't remember the last time I went five days without thinking about clients, work, or what needed doing next.
For a week, none of that mattered.
We'll get back to everyone over the next day or so. Thank you for your patience ππ»π
