My Coast

Made in Cornwall, My Coast is a FREE coastal safety and information app, including everything you need to know for better, safer beach days!

Working with the RNLI, the app currently covers 90 beaches across the South West. Partnering with the RNLI, the My Coast app gives REAL TIME information, centralising around beach safety and providing general information on the coastline. Our aim is to provide the general public a completely free beach safety and information tool so they may make more informed decisions when they visit the coast,

thereby improving safety and reducing beach-related incidents. Some of the safety features include:
- Tide times & risk of being cut off by tide.
- Current sea conditions
- Surf safety
- Rip tide warnings
- Water quality/Sewage warnings
- Beach mapping with active lifeguards
- General safety information specific to that beach. The My Coast app also enables filters to select the ideal beach to visit, giving access to information such as:
- Local amenities
- Facilities - I.E toilets, showers and changing facilities
- Parking information
- Navigation to beaches via maps
- Dog walking information
- Accessibility information
- "Useful things to know" articles providing general beach information (I.E - what to do if you step on a weaver fish)

With only 144 awards presented to beaches, inland waters and marinas in the UK, to have 47 across Cornwall, Devon and Dorset is a testament to the councils, businesses, charities and communities who work so hard to keep our beaches so clean and safe. THANK YOU! These awards belong to you all. 🥰

Having polled all MyCoast users for their views on how to make the app even better, the number one response was simply WE WANT MORE!! So our little team has been busy identifying new beaches, not only in Cornwall but Devon and Dorset too! That’s right people, we’re taking over the South West….

We are also continuing to work on bringing you a longer forecast so you can look further ahead when planning your trips. More news on this to follow!

In the meantime, check out our 30 latest beaches and look out for more and more over the coming months.

The 2025 lifeguard season starts this Bank holiday weekend, with daily patrols from 10am-6pm from 3rd May through to 28th September across these 20 beaches, with the rest commencing 17th May.

Our lifeguards have been training hard in preparation for the new season and do an incredible job helping keep people safe on the beach as well as the water. Be sure to say hello 👋🏻 on your visits!

🌊 Don’t Get Caught Out by the Tide!

Planning a coastal walk or beach day?
Remember, tides can change rapidly, and with RNLI lifeguard patrols not on duty currently, it’s crucial to stay safe with these essential tips:

* Use the MyCoast App to check tide times BEFORE you go.
* Whilst at the beach be aware of your surroundings and the tides direction
* Tell someone your plans

⚠️If you get trapped by the tide, never attempt to swim out; try to find a safe location, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

Dog Owners – Please Be Aware!

Cornwall Council has confirmed that hemlock which is highly toxic to dogs—has been washing up on beaches in the Fistral & Little Fistral area of Newquay.

⚠️ Keep your dogs on a lead
⚠️ Be vigilant while walking on the beach
⚠️ Seek vet advice immediately if your dog becomes unwell

Signs are being put up to warn visitors, but please share this message to help keep our furry friends safe! 🐾💙
