Have a look at this Umbrella plant, an eyecatching sedge that is very ornamental. The flower spikes are beginning to emerge. They have tall stems which produce palm like umbrella flower spikes on top. They are a great marginal pond plant.

How about something a little different this weekend? We have a range of savoury pancakes, as well as our usual sweet favourites. Look at this Indian pancake; Chicken cooked in a blend of spices, tomatoes, peppers, onions and coriander and served with a pot of mango chutney.

Canna (varieties Wilma and Cleo)
This marginal pond plant is happy in zone 1 & 2 around your pond. Whilst it isn't flowering yet, it has large architectural leaves which are green or dark reddish so look wonderful and will grow up to 80-100cm tall, having dazzling red flowers later in the summer.

How beautiful is this Siberian Iris (Iris sibirica 'Not Quite White'? It's in full flower today and available to purchase from the shop.

Great for the edges of your pond as a marginal and will help attract pollinators. The flowers are a delicate greyish white.

How about treating yourselves to a pancake this coming week? It is school half term so we recommend making a booking to avoid disappointment.

Dogs are not permitted in the Pancake House but we do have an outside seating area where they are most welcome.

We've got some really gorgeous marginal pond plants in stock at the moment. The chinese ground orchid is flowering.
