πŸ”” Registered Veterinary Nurse Vacancy πŸ””

We are expanding our team πŸ₯³

We are so excited to share another amazing opportunity for a Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team.πŸ’š

We are looking for a nurse who enjoys being fully involved in patient care and wants to work in a supportive environment with strong clinical standards. ⭐️

Our modern, purpose-built surgery is located within the Pets at Home store in Clacton-on-Sea and has been thoughtfully designed to deliver excellent clinical care while maintaining a welcoming and supportive working environment for the whole team. 🏩

The practice is well-equipped with modern facilities to support high-quality general practice, including digital radiography, state of art ultrasound, in-house laboratory equipment and dedicated surgical facilities. 🩻 πŸ”¬

Our current team consists of 2 vets, 2 RVN, 1 VCA and 3 client care advisors, working closely together to provide excellent care to our patients and clients. As the practice continues to grow, we are looking to expand our nursing team. 🩺πŸ‘₯

We encourage our nurses to utilise their full skillset and play an active role in patient care, including anaesthesia, inpatient management, nurse consultations, diagnostics and client education. πŸ’‰πŸ©Έ

We are particularly interested in nurses who enjoy developing their clinical skills and being actively involved in patient care. Our goal is to maintain a practice where nurses are trusted to use their knowledge, take initiative and contribute meaningfully to the clinical team. πŸ˜‡

🦜 Happy World Parrot Day 🦜

Meet Kilo who is an African Grey Parrot. Kilo visits us here at Clacton for his nail clips. πŸͺΆ

Did you know parrots have four toes on each foot. This allows them to have a strong grip to climb and hold their food. πŸ‘£

They also use their upper hinged beak with incredible bite force to climb and crack open nuts. 🌰

Parrots do not use vocal cords to "talk". Instead, they have a specialized throat organ called a syrinx used to mimic human words and environmental sounds. πŸ—£οΈ

πŸ‘©πŸ»β€βš•οΈ Did you know May, is Veterinary Nurse Awareness Month! πŸ‘©πŸ»β€βš•οΈ

This is a month where we celebrate and appreciate wonderful registered vet nurses all across the country ⭐️ 🌍

What is a Vet Nurse?

A veterinary nurse, is the backbone of a practice, assisting veterinary surgeons, nursing animals during treatment and supporting pet owners through stressful times. As a qualified veterinary nurse, their role is far more complex and varied than many people realise. They are much more than an assistant - they’re a skilled medical professional with their own areas of expertise and responsibility.

What can Vet Nurses do?

βœ… Surgical & Theatre Support: They prepare animals for surgery, assist surgeons during operations, and continuously monitor vital signs while the animal is under anesthesia.

βœ… Diagnostics & Lab Work: Vet nurses take X-rays, draw blood, and process laboratory tests (such as urine and blood analysis) to help vets diagnose illnesses.

βœ… Patient Care: They provide medical care to hospitalized animals, administer medications, change bandages, and provide hands-on nursing.

βœ… Client Education & Clinics: They run their own preventative care clinics for pet owners, offering advice on weight management, nutrition, dental hygiene, and parasite control.

Also nurses can add more qualifications to their current role and provide even more vital and useful skills to provide to their patients and clients. ⭐️

See if you can guess just some of the skills you can spot on the images below πŸ‘‡πŸ» 🩺

Please remember to always be kind and respectful to all of our veterinary professionals πŸ’š

✈️ As of Today, Wednesday 22nd April 2026, new rules have come into effect covering how UK residents can now travel to the EU with their pets.

What’s changing? πŸ€”

Only people who have permanent residence in the EU will be issued and allow to travel using an EU pet passport. If you live in the UK you now can not travel using an EU pet passport. Instead, to travel abroad with your pet you must be issued with an Animal Health Certificate for each trip and pet. πŸ“

This certificate can now be used for up to six months for onward travel within the EU and for re‑entering Great Britain, as long as rabies their vaccinations remain valid.

Thankfully here at Clacton we can issue and provide Animal Health Certificates βœ…

Please get in touch with our team for more information or to book your pet in for this certificate πŸ“ž
