Today my big lads came in for their bath, de shed (Kif) and trim session (Professor). Both did great in the bath but Professor didn’t manage his trim (he let us know he had reached his limit with very clear communication for which I am grateful), so this is booked in for a few weeks time.

Kif left a small dog worth of hair behind and I’m not sure my salon will ever be hair free again! 😂

Today was Jeff’s 14th session at The gentle groomer. We made great progress with leg clipping and Jeff allowed me to clip, shape and scissor all his legs (1 small bit was left when he indicated he’d had enough so I’ll get this next session). We got so much hair from his legs I was chuffed to bits! He also allowed me to trim his hygiene areas using paws up on the stool, what a star ⭐️

Today I met 13 year old Toby for his meet and treat. Tobys previous groomer quit for health reasons and his guardians have been trying to maintain him at home after struggling to find a new groomer, but this has proven very difficult for them given Toby’s age, behavioural issues and general health.

After inspection Toby was found to have severe matting around his legs, feet and torso and it was agreed that this would require removal under sedation.

Toby will feel much more comfortable once all the matts are removed and then we will start his gentle grooming journey to ensure his grooming is low stress and his guardians are able to keep up with his brushing at home.

At The gentle groomer I never judge someone for matting. Life sometimes gets in the way and I’m so grateful that Tobys guardians recognised they were struggling and reached out so I can help.

Today was Autumns 4th session at The gentle groomer. She continues to come on well. We scissored her legs and paws (as she isn’t keen on clippers yet) then we trimmed some unknown hard muck from her ear edges and clipped them to ensure no tangles occur. I scissored some long hair from her snout and eyes and then trimmed her bottom and upper her chest.

She’s growing in confidence, allowing me to hold and scissor her legs without an issue and let me trim her face easily also.

Autumn has developed a sensitivity to brushing in her lower back and bottom area so we discussed introducing a soft bristle brush alongside gentle touch and cuddles, this is her guardians homework.

Great progress Autumn ⭐️ see you in two weeks 🐾

Today was a big day for Frankie..graduation day!! Frankie is no longer on the behavioural modification program and has moved to short frequent grooming sessions. He has now allowed me to groom all parts of his body. He will always be a work in progress and welfare grooms are key to his co operation, but I couldn’t be prouder of him!

Today we trimmed and washed his eyes and fringe and clipped his belly, back, legs and bum. I have recommended a referral onto as have noted some possible pain indications when clipping his sides and back (spasms and twitches). Pain must always be investigated and can play a massive part in grooming issues. I look forward to seeing what magic Rachel can work to help Frankie be more comfortable (although I must say clipping is always his favourite part of the groom!).

Well done Frankie, I am so honoured to have your trust and looking back over our sessions it’s beautiful to see hope far you have come!

Today Rosie came in for her Meet&Treat. She did really well and we even saw some tail wags! Rosie is a rescue from Romania and has only been in her new home 1 month so we don’t know much of her history but she needs a 1:1, gentle approach as struggles with other dogs and noise and I’m delighted her guardian found me!

I’m so happy to announce Rosie has joined The gentle groomer clan!!
