Today was Tobys 1st session at ‘The gentle groomer’. He had a vet sedated shave last week and is feeling so much better, and looking rather fabulous might I add!
Today we worked on introducing the sights and sounds of the salon and working on developing trust.
Toby came to me for cuddles and sniffs and was ok with the clipper and trimmers when on but not touching him. The scissors however elicited a much stronger reaction with a good short sharp grump and lip curl so we defo have some work to do on reintroducing scissors.
Today’s session was deliberately short, about 25 minutes in length and once Toby had told me he wasn’t happy we stopped…no let’s see if we can keep going or let’s push through it..we simply stopped and this is how trust and communication is developed.
Toby is on a weekly schedule for now and his guardians have their homework for reintroducing scissors in a positive way alongside positive reinforcement and lots of praise.
