When you need home care often Social Services, the GP or the council will arrange for a care agency to come and assist with your care. However it is everyone's right to decide on their own home care and you might decide a care agency is not the best thing for you with all the different faces you see and all the different times they come. As a Home Care Worker (called a Personal Assistant) I provide care for all people including those who the council or social services pay for care. Its not just private clients, I have clients that the council/social services pay for too. If you are someone who just wants the same reliable care worker to come and assist every day, who wants to get up in the morning at the time you choose and not the time you are forced to have by an agency. Who wants to be treated properly with the respect you deserve and not feel like you are a burden for asking for help. Or perhaps you are a family member who really wants their father to have a shave, proper wash and clean clothes every day and meals provided properly and not rushed. Music can trigger powerful memories and emotions for us all. Try these musical ideas with a person living with dementia to stimulate conversation and reminiscence.

Someone who can't sing or play instrument might still enjoy humming, whistling, clapping or tapping their feet to familiar songs.

Even when dementia causes memory problems, many people continue to remember tunes and lyrics.
