LAST FEW SPACES FOR NEW CLIENTS IN JUNE!!!

For those who may not know me, I’m Charleigh, a Veterinary Physiotherapist based in Chichester and the owner of The Canine Rehab Lab.

I provide mobile physiotherapy appointments across Chichester, Portsmouth, Fareham, Waterlooville and surrounding areas, helping dogs with:
🐾 Arthritis and mobility issues

🐾 Post-operative rehabilitation

🐾 Injury recovery

🐾 Sporting and working dog maintenance

🐾 Puppy mobility and preventative care

Appointments take place in your dog’s home environment, helping keep sessions as relaxed and convenient as possible.

I currently have a few remaining appointments available for new clients in June, so if you’ve been considering physiotherapy for your dog, now is a great time to get in touch.

If you’re unsure whether physiotherapy could help your dog, feel free to send me a message – I’m always happy to answer questions and point people in the right direction.

☀️ 30°C+ is NOT dog walking weather. ☀️

Today is another day where the safest place for many dogs is at home, in the cool.

Please do not take your dog out in the middle of the day “just for a quick walk.” Heatstroke can happen fast — and once a dog is overheating, it can become life-threatening very quickly.

Dogs most at risk include:
🐾 Flat-faced breeds
🐾 Puppies
🐾 Senior dogs
🐾 Overweight dogs
🐾 Thick-coated breeds
🐾 Dogs with heart or breathing issues

And remember — highly driven dogs often won’t stop themselves even when they are struggling.

If you can get out:
✔️ Go very early morning
✔️ Or late evening once temperatures have dropped
✔️ Stick to shaded areas
✔️ Take water
✔️ Keep walks short and sensible

If it’s too hot for the dog to safely come with you, then leave them at home, and if you can’t leave them … you shouldn’t be going either.

You chose to own a dog — and sometimes responsible ownership means skipping the walk.

A dog has never died from missing one day of exercise.
Dogs HAVE died from heatstroke.

There are plenty of safer alternatives:
🧠 Indoor training
❄️ Frozen enrichment
🌳 Shade-based garden time
👃 Scent games
🏠 Mental stimulation indoors

Please make sensible choices today and put your dog’s safety first ❤️

National Rescue Day 🤍

Meet Freddie ‘one of’ the faces of EmCat Mortgages 🏠

Freddie was run over by a lorry in Romania and sadly his injuries were so severe that his back leg had to be amputated. Since coming to the UK, he’s found love, safety and a whole new chapter.

Now, Freddie has physiotherapy to help support compensatory issues and keep him feeling strong, comfortable and moving well. While we can’t treat a leg that isn’t there, we can support the rest of his body so he can continue living his happiest life 🐾

Tripod dogs are some of the most resilient, joyful dogs you’ll ever meet — and Freddie is proof of that!

If your dog — rescue or not — could benefit from physiotherapy support, feel free to message me 🤍

Following on from yesterday’s post, I talk more about why dogs may slow down, become reluctant to use stairs, show behavioural changes, alter their posture, or start repeated licking in certain areas.

If yesterday’s post resonated with you, this gives a more in-depth look at what those changes can mean and why early support matters.

If you’ve noticed any of these changes in your own dog and you’re not sure whether they’re significant, please do get in touch.

Dogs don’t always show pain in obvious ways.

No limping.
No crying.
Just small changes that are easy to miss.

Things like:
• slowing down on walks
• hesitating to jump or use stairs
• behaviour changes
• sitting differently or weight-shifting
• repeated licking in one area

These subtle signs can all point to discomfort.

The earlier we spot an issue, the sooner we can support your dog and help keep them moving comfortably.

If you’ve noticed any of these signs in your dog, get in touch 💚

🐾 World Veterinary Day
When it comes to your dog’s health, the best outcomes don’t happen in isolation — they happen through a team approach.
From diagnosis to rehabilitation and long-term wellbeing, veterinary professionals work together to support every stage of your dog’s journey.
As a veterinary physiotherapist, I work alongside vets and other professionals to help dogs:
✔️ Recover from injury or surgery
✔️ Improve strength, mobility, and comfort
✔️ Stay active and moving well for longer
Today is about recognising the dedication, knowledge, and care that goes into keeping our animals healthy.
A big thank you to all veterinary professionals 🐕💙
Because better outcomes happen when we work together.

Exercise isn’t just “extra” in physiotherapy… it’s the part that creates lasting change 🐾

Hands-on treatment, advanced therapies, and rehabilitation sessions all work to reduce pain, improve mobility, and restore function—but it’s targeted exercise prescription that builds strength, improves movement, and helps prevent the problem from coming back.

From cavaletti poles to sit-to-stands and core work, every exercise has a purpose—and when done correctly, they can completely transform your dog’s recovery and long-term health.

AND it's been broken down for you in my latest blog 👇
✨ What exercise prescription actually is
✨ Why it’s so important
✨ Common rehab exercises (and what they do)
