I was a Kennel club Assured breeder. I have retired now. but I am still happy to help. with general issues if I can. he was neutered.

when I started breeding sharpei 28 years ago. they lived if you were lucky untill about 8. Good breeders only bred from healthy dogs with out social issues. we worked hard to improve the breed. Bear coats or dogs with a coat longer than 1 " was not breed standard must not be bred from at all. also they should be of a solid colour no patches of another colour at all. only the typical darker shade

that runs down the back. these also not breed standard. we had been told not to breed from these dogs. only to sell them at a minimum amount without papers or papers endorced not to be bred from. how times have changed. these dogs now called flowered or bears are beautiful. my bear Harvey was stunning. we have dogs that have lived until 18. how wonderful. I am very proud to have been amongst the great breeders who achieved the change.

People are chatting on the Shar- pei groups, about if there sharpei like swimming. to be honest they aren't known for liking water. but all our's have liked a paddle and Harvey, Sadi, Tilli and Buffi would have a swim. try them never force it. Keep them on the lead and go in yourself reassuring them all the time.

Harri has been on Holiday with my son. They have just walked Hadrians wall 86 miles in 8 days. So much for Shar-pei being lazy. He
did really well. He was very well prepared for this. Having long walks for months before they went. He seems to have really enjoyed himself. The people in Carlisle hadnt seen a Shar-pei before, harri enjoyed lots of attention and fussing. He loves people so much. He has a very dirty neck and needs a bath.
