Yorkshire Terrier & Toy Breed Rescue

Yorkshire Terrier & Toy Breed Rescue The Yorkshire Terrier & Toy Breed Rescue (UK) 07852965163 10am-4pm We take dogs from owners who are unable to keep them, and unwanted strays from pounds.

Yorkshire Terrier & Toy Breed Rescue is managed on a totally self funding voluntary basis by Sue Harrowell. We have a policy that every dog coming into our rescue is treated with love and respect and given the utmost care. We work all over the United Kingdom with the help of a small but very dedicated team of volunteers who foster/transport & fund raise for the rescue. Our rescue dogs are not hou

sed in kennels, they are fostered in homes so that their behaviour can be assessed in a family situation. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms and micro chipped. Other necessary treatment such as kennel cough, dental work and any other veterinary work will be carried out as necessary. Homes will be home checked prior to dogs leaving fosters and follow-up checks once adopted. We continue to support our owners with help and advice, including working with specialist vets, dog behaviourists and trainers. Should the new owner's circumstances change we ALWAYS have the dogs back into our care for subsequent rehoming.

Dear All
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for you kind messages and help through what was a really difficult time over the last 3 months.

Also a huge thank you to Vicki, Jane & Sheila for running the rescue so well while I have not been around, they have done a fantastic but difficult job.

Losing my home was hard but finding somewhere for myself & the dogs was really hard but you will all be pleased to know we did it.
I am finally settled in a nice little house with my dogs & am now back up & running communication wise etc
I am still not able to change my address etc on the website as I cannot access it as it was built for me by a friend a long time ago so I will include that at the bottom of this news letter.

Whilst I have been out of 'action' we have had to turn many dogs away sadly, this was due to either the lack of funds as I was not able to do large shows like I did last year & also we have a serious lack of foster carers right now for various reasons.
To enable us to start taking in little ones like we used to we need 2 things, funds & foster carers.

If you feel you would like to become a foster carer could you please complete a Volunteer Form which can be found here
http://www.yorkieandtoybreedrescue.co.uk/volunteer.html

If anyone could spare a pound or two to get the pot back up to a level where we can start taking in more you will find ways of how to donate here
http://yorkie-rescue.friendhood.net/t14843-how-to-donate

We are in the middle of organising an online auction so if you have any items that you wish to donate could you please send a picture, brief description & how much P & P will be to [email protected]

Could I also ask people not to message me on Facebook if you need me please
I get so many due to working with many other rescues etc that I may not see your message until a few days later
We ask that all messages that are rescue related are emailed to admin that way you have 4 chances of it being picked up sooner rather than later.

If it is a personal message then tag me to let me know.

Once again thank you all for you patience with me not being about, but I am now back & will be stronger than ever.

Hope you all have a Happy Easter & please remember dont let your dogs have any human chocolate as it can possibly kill them.

Best wishes
Sue & the wonderful Admin Team

As many of you all know I have had a pretty rough time these past few months
Losing my home & having to start all over again alone
But I was over whelmed with all the messages & support I received which helped me through these difficult times
I am now all settled with my dogs in our new home so am back at the helm, although the Admin team have run the rescue so well may just retire & leave them to it :-)
As I have not been able to do any fund raising/auctions etc the rescue is now running very low on funds hence why we have been turning lots away, but we did take in the oldie who now needs a very expensive dental so any help would be appreciated.
I will be sorting out some items for an auction soon so if you have anything you could donate please send a picture & description inc how much postage will be etc to [email protected]
Once again thank you all for your wonderful messages & support

Dear all
The Yorkshire Terrier & Toy Breed Rescue would like to wish you a very Happy New Year & may 2016 be a good & kind one to you all.
The rescue was the busiest it has ever been in all the 30 years it has been running
Sadly it will I feel only get worse?
Only this week we have already taken in 9 dogs 5 being a young mum & her 4 x 3 week old pups
You can read about Coral here
http://yorkie-rescue.friendhood.net/t16801-5-new-ones-in-today
I know times have been hard for many but you all still supported me when we had a little one in that needed an expensive operation etc
The rescue is so grateful to have such wonderful supporters
We get some asking how they can donate so I will put the link to the place that explains all the different ways you can help
http://yorkie-rescue.friendhood.net/f119-how-to-donate
We are hoping 2016 will be a quiet one but I doubt that very much so we will over the course of the year be running some on line auction/fund raisers but meanwhile we still have some calendars left & also rescue T Shirts & Vest Tops for sale.
Once again thank you all so much for 2015 & here is to 2016
Happy New Year

Thank you for all your kind words
The rescue is still running, infact it is that which has kept me sane over that last few weeks.
So today we took in 5 new ones.
Well a mum & her 4 x 3 week old pups
Mum is very underweight & pups are rather small so off to vets in the morning with them all
Going to be expensive so if anyone could spare a £1 or two we would be grateful
Meet Coral (was called Shabbie) & her 4 beautiful babies
Coral is a Chinese Creted Hairy Hairless & dad was said to be a poodle?

Dear all
Many apologies for not being on here much over the last few weeks
My partner of 14 years walked out on me 2 weeks before Christmas leaving me with so much to sort out
I am having to find somewhere to live with my dogs & horses & that havs taken up so much of my time
I have a fabulous admin team who are still keeping the rescue going as that will not be stopped.
Once again many apologies for my absence
I hope you had a very Merry Christmas & have a great New Year
Thank you for all your support & I hope that will continue

12/12/2015

Dear All

Well Christmas is upon us all once more & 2015 has proved to be one of the worse years the rescue has ever had. Never have we been so busy with many before.

We stop adopting the little ones out as from the 18th December through to 6th January 2016 due to families celebrating and we feel it is not fair for a dog to go into such a busy home where many will have visitors, leaving maybe doors/gates open etc. However we do still continue to take in any that need our help especially the ones who find themselves in the pounds across the UK & any at real risk. Obviously with no adoptions taking place we will have no funds coming in yet we will still need to provide any veterinary care any new little ones may need.

We still have some 2016 Rescue Calendars for sale if anyone is still wishing to purchase one in time for Christmas which will help raise some funds for the rescue.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful foster carers as without their dedication & opening their homes up we would not have a rescue. They are that backbone of the ‘ship’ so to speak. Thank you all so very much.
Also thank you to each & everyone of you for the continuous support you have all given the rescue over the year, again without that the rescue could not have helped so many in need.

If anyone could spare a few pounds over the festive period we would be so grateful as it will be I feel judging by the sheer volume we have helped up to now needed more than ever.

http://yorkie-rescue.friendhood.net/t14843-how-to-donate

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year 2016. May it bring all that you have all wished for.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
