Super proud of my sponsored duo Toni and Sula this weekend at Wye Valley KC show🤩
I had a great weekend watching and supporting, and running my crazy boy who has a lot to learn! I’m hoping Sula will pass on a few tips… 🤔🧡

Alongside my work as a Veterinary Physiotherapist, I am also a fully qualified Human Physiotherapist with 5 years of clinical experience.

My background includes:
• Orthopaedics
• Post-operative rehabilitation
• Frailty and elderly care
• Community physiotherapy

I now specialise in Intensive Care and Respiratory Physiotherapy, supporting patients with complex respiratory conditions, critical illness rehabilitation, and recovery following acute hospital admission.

I am happy to discuss any concerns regarding mobility, recovery, rehabilitation, respiratory health, or general physiotherapy needs, and can offer guidance on whether physiotherapy may be beneficial for you.
Please feel free to get in touch for further information or advice.

Bowie is doing so well, and we’ve even fitted him with some wheels while he continues his rehab, because he is SO keen to get going!!

How gorgeous is Eirys😍
The sweetest gentle giant came into clinic today for her first physio session, following a tumble onto her shoulder🥺 safe to say she was tired after her session - I can’t wait to see her progress in a few weeks after her exercise programme 🤩🐾

And I have successfully fitted my first set of wheels on to a lovely dog 🐕 🛞

Wheels aren’t for everyone, but for some dogs who really struggle with their mobility due to hindlimb weakness (for any number of reasons), they can really help to improve quality of life!

For more information, please get in touch - I’d love to help🥰🐾

🐾 THE ILIOPSOAS MUSCLE GROUP IN DOGS 🐾

I’ve had a few dogs present with muscle tears recently, with two of them being iliopsoas tears, so thought I’d do a post to increase awareness of the muscle group!

🦴 Anatomy
The iliopsoas is made up of three muscles:
• Psoas major – originates from T12 - L5 (lumbar spine)
•Psoas minor - originates from T12 and L1
• Iliacus – originates from the ilium (inner surface of the pelvis)

These muscles join together and attach to the lesser trochanter of the femur, near the top of the hind leg.

🐕 Primary Function
The iliopsoas is the main hip flexor muscle in dogs.
Its main role is to bring the hind limb forward.

This muscle is especially active during:
• Walking
• Running
• Jumping
• Climbing stairs
• Getting in and out of the car

🏃 Why It Matters
The iliopsoas is essential for smooth stride movement, hip stability, and athletic performance.

It is particularly important in active and sporting dogs who perform:
• Agility
• Flyball
• Canicross

⚠️ Common Issue: Iliopsoas Strain
This is one of the more common soft tissue injuries seen in active dogs.

Signs may include:
• Lameness or limping in a hind leg
• Shortened stride
• Difficulty jumping
• Pain when the hip is extended
• Reduced performance

💡 Owner Tip
If your dog suddenly becomes reluctant to jump, run, or use the stairs, the iliopsoas may be involved. Early assessment and rehab can make a big difference.
