We use positive reward methods in small, friendly classes Woodmancote Dog Trainign Club is a small, welcoming, friendly club. We want to support all owners to have the knowledge and skills to enable their dogs to be a wonderful addition to their family. Owning a dog can be an expensive addition to the family finances so we aim to make our classes affordable for all. We use reward based training in
all our classes. Puppies learn the basics needed for a happy time with their family. In addition to this, we talk about potential problems owners may come across, how to deal with difficult behaviours in their puppies and life in general with a dog. We recognise that owners may need support after the initial puppy stage, hopefully many will stay on for later classes but if not, we are always happy to advise our owners once they have left. We build on these skills with our classes for adolescent dogs. Should owners want to take their training further then we have more advanced classes after these. These have lots of variety in depending on the level the dog is working at. They may learn to ring a bell, do heel work, learn how to do a send-away, different tricks, the list of skills taught is long. Many members stay with the club for many years and then return with new puppies. We have 3 trainers, all with many years experience. All keep their knowledge current, updating their skills as things change in the dog training world. They have their own dogs and all have rescue dogs. Anita runs the Puppy and Adolescent classes, supported by Chloe. Chloe runs our 8pm class for young adults, those dogs that have moved on from the adolescent class. Anne runs another 8pm class for more advanced young adults and the "top class" for older experienced dogs. All 3 work as a team and are able to step into each others classes should the need arise. In addition, we have a "Sniffy Club" which is run at another venue and where dogs learn how to do scentwork. Many of our dogs go onto to do other dog activities, this may be scentwork, agility or mantrailing, to name but a few.
