Dear Clients
We have now had guidance from The McTimoney Animal Association on how to proceed during this second lockdown. Please see below.
1. Treatment MUST be deemed essential to the animalโs welfare โ this can be determined through detailed discussion between the practitioner, the owner of the animal and where appropriate, the veterinary surgeon giving permission for treatment to take place.
Examples of such cases may include:
a) Initial or ongoing treatment where underlying pathology produces compensatory pain or discomfort for the animal if treatment protocols are not maintained
b) Initial or ongoing treatment where there are clinical symptoms of pain, discomfort or difficulty in performing normal behaviours, whether ridden or unridden in horses, and whether in training/exercise or at rest for pets or other species.
c) Initial or ongoing treatment where the animal is elderly and chiropractic care is appropriate for increased comfort or for end of life care.
2. Treatment in cases where there are no clinical symptoms, no underlying pathology or no clearly evident welfare issues, should be delayed until lockdown has been lifted. This will include โcheck upsโ in animals due in this period unless one of the criteria above criteria has been met.
Please feel free to contact me if you would like to make an appointment. I will contact the clients that I currently have appointments with to check that we are meeting the criteria of 1 a, b or c and to discuss your yards requirements for visitors so that the treatment can happen in as safe as manner as possible.
Stay safe!
Many thanks
Kirsten
