πŸ•· Let’s Talk About Ticks!
Ticks might be tiny, but they can cause big problems for our pets β€” especially during the warmer months when they’re most active. As a mobile vet nurse, I often see pets with hidden ticks that owners didn’t even realise were there!

🐾 What Are Ticks?
Ticks are small arachnids, related to spiders and mites. They attach themselves to mammals and feed on blood.

πŸ” Where Ticks Like to Hide
Ticks love warm, hidden spots:
- Ears and around the eyes
- Under collars and harnesses
- Between toes and under legs
- Around the tail and groin area

🩺 Keep your pets protected - A quick daily check after walks or outdoor play can make all the difference!

πŸ‘‰ Why it matters:
Ticks can carry Lyme Disease and other infections, which can be transmitted in as little as 12 hours of feeding. Early detection is key to keeping your pet healthy and safe.

πŸ›‘ Prevention tips:
βœ” Use a vet-approved tick prevention product (spot-on, chewable, or collar)
βœ” Keep grass and bushes trimmed
βœ” Check your pets after walks or outdoor play
βœ” Remove ticks carefully with a tick removal tool β€” twist, don’t pull!

If you’re unsure how to remove a tick safely, I can show you the correct technique during a home visit. πŸ’‰

❀ Remember: Ticks can be active all year round β€” regular prevention keeps your furry friends healthy and happy!

Toby ❀️ A stunning Maine C**n cross 😺
These cats are known for being one of the largest domesticated breeds and can weigh up to 10kg! Toby is on the smaller side but he doesn't need to know that 🀫
As they are long-haired, they should be brushed everyday to avoid matting.
Unfortunately Toby still gets knots/matting under his armpits (legpits?) and in his groin area, so his family book me in every now and then to give them a hand.
As you can imagine, Toby isn't a fan of his de-matts, so I take my time using lots of feliway, head scratches and treats along the way!
