✨ Before & After – Rabbit Hygiene Groom ✨
These photos show the incredible difference a gentle, professional hygiene groom can make.
This lovely female rabbit had urine and faeces matting around her private areas, causing discomfort and putting her at serious risk of flystrike as the warmer weather approaches.
Flystrike is a life threatening emergency in rabbits and can develop very quickly if soiled fur is left untreated. 🪰
Rebecca carefully removed the matting using a combination of clippers, combs, scissors, warm water and rabbit-safe shampoo.
Rabbit skin is extremely thin and fragile, so this type of work requires patience, experience and the right handling to avoid injury. The groom took around one hour, with regular breaks to keep the rabbit calm and comfortable throughout.
The result? A much happier, cleaner and more comfortable bunny all achieved without the need for sedation, which could have meant a veterinary bill running into hundreds of pounds.
Please don’t feel embarrassed if your rabbit gets into this condition. It can happen for many reasons, including age, arthritis, obesity, dental issues or illness.
