🐾 Meet Lenny! 🐾

This handsome Staffy Cross came in today for a well-deserved groom and deshed session. ✂️🐶

Many people are surprised to learn that even though Lenny has a short coat, he’s still double-coated. Beneath that sleek outer layer is a soft, fluffy undercoat that sheds and can become compacted if not properly maintained.

Regular deshedding helps to remove loose undercoat, allowing better airflow through the coat which can help keep dogs more comfortable, especially during warmer weather. It also promotes healthy skin and coat growth, reduces shedding around the home, and keeps the coat in its best condition.

Lenny was an absolute superstar throughout his groom and is now feeling much lighter, fresher, and ready to enjoy the sunshine! ☀️❤️

🐾 Meet Bella! 🐾

Isn’t she the cutest little Pomeranian? ❤️ Bella came to visit us for a much-needed groom, and she was an absolute superstar!

Pomeranians have a beautiful double coat, which means they should never be clipped or shaved. Their coat helps regulate their body temperature, keeping them warm in winter and cooler in summer.

Instead, Bella enjoyed a thorough de-shed treatment to remove all the loose, compacted undercoat and dead fur. This allows healthy new coat growth, reduces the weight she’s carrying around, and helps improve airflow through her coat—making her much more comfortable during these warmer days. ☀️

Regular grooming is essential for double-coated breeds to keep their coats healthy, comfortable, and free from matting.

Bella left looking and feeling fabulous! 🥰

Safe fun in the sun when it’s cool enough and plenty of water play to keep everybody happy 🐾☀️💦

Whether it’s a splash in the pool, a paddle, or relaxing in the shade, keeping dogs cool and comfortable in this weather is so important. We always make sure our boarders have access to fresh water, shaded areas, and cool indoor spaces whenever they need them ❤️

Happy dogs, safe dogs, and lots of wagging tails! 🐶

☀️ It’s already 22°C and it’s only 9am! With highs of 32°C expected in Carno today, it’s definitely a hot one! 🥵🐾

I’m absolutely in my element because I love the heat ☀️ but many of my boarders really struggle in temperatures like these. Dogs can overheat very quickly, especially when they’re excited, playing, or enjoying the sunshine a little too much.

Today is all about keeping everybody safe, cool, and comfortable ❤️
That means plenty of indoor chill time, access to fresh water at all times, cool areas to rest, and lots of monitoring to make sure everyone is coping well with the heat.

Even dogs that love sunbathing need regular breaks to cool down and regulate their temperature 🐶❄️

Stay safe out there everyone, and remember — if the ground feels too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws! 🐾☀️

No dog ever died from missing one walk🚨

If the pavement is too hot for your hand for five seconds, it's definitely too hot for paws. During the heatwave, stick to walks at dusk and dawn to avoid burnt paw pads and heatstroke, and if in doubt, don't go out.

What fantastic weather we are having! ☀️🐾

Many of our boarders are loving a sunbath or cooling off with a splash in the dog pool, while others are much happier relaxing indoors or stretched out under the shade of a tree 🌳💦

Every dog handles the heat differently, and it’s important to remember that even dogs who absolutely love the sunshine can still get too hot. Making sure they come inside for a cool rest, have access to fresh water, and take breaks from the heat is so important during warmer weather ❤️

Keeping our fluffy friends safe and comfortable will always come first at Cynefin Pet Care 🐾

☀️ HOT WEATHER REMINDER ☀️

With the weather heating up again this week, we wanted to remind everyone of our hot weather dog walking policy here at Cynefin Pet Care 🐾

The safety, health and wellbeing of the dogs in our care will always come first.

🌡️ 21°C – 25°C
Walks may still go ahead depending on the dog’s:
🐶 Age
🐶 Breed
🐶 Health conditions

We will closely monitor every dog during walks and if we notice any signs of discomfort, overheating or struggling, we will return immediately. The remainder of their session will then be spent enjoying garden play and mental stimulation activities instead.

🌡️ 26°C and above
For safety reasons, we will not conduct walks once temperatures reach 26°C or higher.

Instead, dogs will enjoy:
🐾 Garden play
🧠 Mental enrichment games
❄️ Safe, lower-intensity activities to keep them happy and stimulated without the risks associated with overheating.

We continuously monitor weather conditions and make decisions based on what is safest and most comfortable for the dogs in our care.
