Total tally for my rainbows is 7 fertile eggs I'm so excited and can't wait to see them all ! Fingers crossed they all make it! The 1st one should hatch next week 😄

Ice and reed are now also mating and I wouldnt be surprised if she laid her 1st egg today or tomorrow

Rocki is incubating 2 rainbow eggs 🥰

And the exhibition pair are just living in the nest Box at this point haha holding the 1st egg hostage 😂😀

Today is one of the 2x a week iodine water supplement day 🥰

lots of people still don't know about how beneficial liquid iodine is for your little budgie friends ! I certainly didn't until a few years ago!

often i see posts on the various budgie pages I'm on, of worried owner's taking their budgies to the vet for breathing issues and a raspy squeeky sound when they are eating and flying !! And more often than not the vet suggests antibiotics and the owners are still worried because it isn't making them any better !

This is one of the most common signs of an iodine deficiency along with brown scaling on the cere more prominent in male budgies as theirs is dark blue 😳

I myself have seen the amazing transformation in many budgies even my own once they started with the liquid iodine supplements and its so easy to do! No grabbing the birds to give them unnecessary medications ect no vet trips and stress to the birds 🥰 just 1 drop in 500ml of water 2x a week is all it takes unless you havnt done it before then it's for 5 days in a row to start and then 2x a week for the entirety of your budgies life!

Alot of people say to me oh but I have an iodine block in the cage but they don't touch it !! These blocks although great for beak exercise and boredom breaking, contain next to no actual iodine and are made mostly of plaster of Paris and give no benefit to the bird as they chew and most of it ends up as dust on the floor !! So although even I put these in my breeding cages I use them for a different reason which is to encourage chewing which helps getting the birds into breeding condition 🥰

Lugols 15 percent liquid iodine 💪

That's all the breeding cages cleaned out 🥰 hens when they are breeding are so so messy !! I had to get the scraper out today and wipe all the bars down 🤣

6 fertile rainbow eggs yay !! The little foster baby under rocki number 6 is fertile and growing ❤️

Rocki now had 2 rainbow eggs under her as River laid a 7th egg 🥰 fingers crossed the 6th egg should show fertile tomorrow and I will be over the moon !! And also ice my German fallow hen is finally having egg poos !! Finally hahahaha fingers crossed for fertile eggs over the next 2 weeks from her also and rocki will have some space for 3 more fosters also 😀

Do you ever get the feeling that someone or something is watching you 😂😂

River just laid her 6th egg so I've fostered it over to rocky so she will have 1 little fertile egg under her that will hatch in 18 days so she will have her own chick to raise 🥰 if River lays a 7th egg that will go under her also :)

4 fertile eggs out of 5 so far for the rainbow pair 🥰 I'm still holding out hope for the other 3 pairs!! As I only breed small scale I can't always guarantee a pair will be successful 1st time round as nature will do what nature does! Fingers crossed rocki will have a full clutch next time round 🥰 the other 2 pairs are still a matter of time ⏲️

3 out of 4 eggs laid so far are fertile for the rainbow pair 🥰

Unfortunately all eggs from stimps and rocki are empty :( will foster them over 1 egg from another pair if they have more then 5 so they still get to raise a baby all their hard work won't be for nothing ❤️

Ice and reed- still nothing but they are still going in and out of nest box so any day hopefully

Olivers exhibition pair are having egg poos so we are excited fingers crossed for fertile eggs from them Any day ❤️

Having the right Humidity is so important for the health of not just the birds themselves, their general feather health and respiratory system, its also really important you get it right for your breeding birds and the eggs!! Generally for the eggs the humidity needs to be between 60-70 percent and I'm failing so hard as my house is always on the high side and it's a constant battle 🙃 I've got a electric dehumidifier plus many plastics dehumidifiers dotted about, windows open every morning and evening to let in fresh air and doors open so it creates a cross breeze through the house to try bring it down .... today I finaly got it down to 75 percent which is still too high but it make an improvement from the massive 85 percent it was yesterday morning! It really isn't always sunshine and rainbows and there are always so many things to consider and keep in mind when breeding and keeping birds !

That's all the birdies fed and watered today 😃 next task... cleaning the windows in the bird room and all the sides ect .. dust is my enemy 😂
