Do you enjoy feeding garden birds as much as us? ❤️

There are a few members of our team who delight in watching these garden visitors flitting around and regularly feed them.

However, through the summer months bird feeders can become contaminated and pose a threat to birds' health. Please follow the RSPB guidance below to protect our beloved wild birds. 🫶🏼

We all want to help birds and make our gardens or outdoor spaces a place where all wildlife can thrive. But some species, such as Greenfinches, are experiencing serious declines because of disease.

National Adopt a Cat Month is celebrated every June to highlight the importance of giving shelter cats a second chance.

Instead of buying from breeders or pet shops, this month encourages people to adopt from shelters and rescues.

With so many cats and kittens patiently waiting for their forever homes, itʼs the perfect time to welcome a new feline friend into your life. 🐱🫶

The weather is set to hit 27 degrees and over today , this is past "high risk" for heat stroke and is considered the "danger zone". 🌡️

Even minimal exposure to this temperature can be life threatening without your pet exerting themselves!

🌞Keep pets indoors in well ventilated areas with access to plenty of water. This includes small furries - hutches get hot!

🌞Avoid travel where possible, but if you do have to bring your pet to us put the A/C on/open windows/provide a cooling mat to lie on. If you're travelling with a cat, do not use the "space backpack" style carriers - these are not ventilated enough!

🌞You can wrap frozen bottles of water in a towel for your pet to lie against and add ice cubes to their water. Encourage them to stay hydrated and if your cat/dog eats dry food, consider soaking it to further increase their water intake.

Signs of heatstroke can include:

🥵Heavy, distressed panting
🥵Excessive drooling
🥵Red or dark gums
🥵Lethargy or confusion
🥵Vomiting or collapsing

In the event of these signs developing, cool your pet down before attempting to travel to us. Soak them in cold water but do not cover with a wet towel as this can be insulative and trap heat.

We hope you don't need us, but if you do, call 01267 238810.
