Have you ever noticed the Otter on our labels and wondered what the connection is?
The river Teifi defines the southern border of Ceredigion rising at the remote Teifi pools in the Cambrian mountains. It progresses through wildlife rich wetlands and farmlands reaching the sea at Aberteifi via the historic port of Cardigan - the home of Thermatex. Otters thrive in this well stocked river hence their long association with this beautiful market town on the west coast of Wales.

Ever wondered how Thermatex products are made? Each rug is made from yarn which is knitted into large panels. From here it is steamed and pressed before being passed over to our expert cutter who ensures it is cut to the required pattern and size. Next it is the turn of one of our skilled machinists to bring the design to life. Finally the product is thoroughly checked before being dispatched. The whole process from taking the order to dispatched is handled by our dedicated team in-house. We are proud to be a British manufacturer 🇬🇧

Today is Retirement day for a special lady - Janet Francis. Janet has worked for Thermatex since day one, some 32 years. It is a sad day for us as she will be missed, along with her delicious cakes!

Last weekend Team H had its first outing with our 2022 Novice. One of these stories, we weren't looking but he found us.
Arriving in March and has just fitted in so perfectly in every way. Lots of ground work and getting to know his new mates and the routine before stepping up to more educational things like trips out, standing calm, trotting up, pole work, schooling. Hacking out sole, in group in any position plus gates. He answered ever question and was wanting more. So cautiously we put an entry in for Wirral. We like wirral and feel its ideal for novices.
Ridden by Sarah Light to guide this little chap on his biggest challenge ever. He took it all his stride and enjoyed his day. Achieving grade 1 and winning Performance Formula class and Sarah 1 ride away from upgrading to OPEN. An excellent start for this little chap at the team H stable.

An early morning trip Sunday to Avon Valleys with Ditto in the 64km GER. This lad is loving his job as we step up his challenge but equally his ego grows too.
Setting of with 2 riders Lisa & Wtam. Thank you for your company till we split off. Ditto shouted to you for some time as he missed your company but this didnt dampen his eagerness. Arriving at the vet gate he was quick to present. Asked to trot. Ditto full of energy he set off so fast with me, trying to keep hold of him he cantered both away and back and almost taking the vet out. Funny, but we had to trot again. A pass by the vets I let my guard down and next Ditto was down rolling in the arena. Least we gave the vets a laugh, back to trailer to clean him up, feed him and soon back out on course. Ditto still eager and off in canter as the time keeper counted us down.
He was on one all day, he will learn and I don't want to dampen his enthusiasm but allow him to develop, he will learn to pace himself. We don't plan to race ride him this season but have a go at multi day rides and allow him time to mature and learn. He's just giddy and thinks the day out is one big party and if you are on your own there is always someone else in front, so let's catch them.
At final vetting he quickly dropped his pulse but stayed around 49-52bpm. As he was alert, which isn't a bad thing. Off to vet, him still watching and a little fidgety. A pulse of 52, check over and off to trot. This time I was ready for his antics of cantering. Well so I thought and he cantered back down the trot lane. So back up again but in TROT. Least we gave the vets some amusement and lovely comments. As they remember him doing his 1st Novice ride last year. How far he's progressed in 12mths. Roll on Kings Forest for his next challenge.
Thank you RO and all the wonderful volunteers who helped make a most enjoyable weekend for all us riders. A beautiful challenging route that has a bit of everything. Definitely back for 2023.

Back into full work for Kracker after his 160km at Kings Forest back in April. A lovely trip to Craven Country ride with Tania & Sara for company. All 3 horses just being a little bit competitive which always adds to the fun. Kracker was loving having the company, felt incredible and so strong. Excited to be back on him feeling so good both mentally and physically strong after that last challenge.
I am hoping all 3 horses lost a few pounds after that 20km hard hilly workout.
The Enduro Equine is a key factor in knowing how hard they have worked.

Fabulous weekend trip to Lavenham Endurance with team H Ditto. A step up in distance for his first 80km. A welcoming team and a catch up with friends Saturday evening.
An early start and a keen Ditto to handle to keep us on our toes. Tacked up and soon away on course with Belinda Stewart with crazy Penny. A superbly marked course, yes the ground was hard but that's outside the organisers control but still plenty of places to canter.
Sarah Light of Light Touch Physiotherapy joined the team H crew today. Sarah knows Ditto really well having ridden him last season. All good at both vet gates, checked over by Sarah Light our Physiotherapist. Good pulse recoveries and excellent trot ups from Ditto. Tacking back up he was keen to get back out on course. 16kph on final loop until I took a pull and we walked in. Into final vetting HR 50 and a good willing trot to give Ditto all A's and a pass from the vets. A grade 2, 4th in PF, 2nd in Best condition and won Best shod. Thank you top farrier Paul Conway.
A really proud moment as another horse from basic to Advanced endurance by the team H team. Just love his attitude, yes he's bit of a thug but I'm sure I will shape his childlike enthusiasm in the right direction.
As well as becoming Advanced Ditto is qualified for FEI. I see this comment a lot from other riders post. I'll say Ditto is eligible to enter FEI events but this is only the minimum requirement. He needs a few more rides and gain a lot more experience and skills before stepping up to FEI 100km race.
Thank you Lauren Hirst and Anna Bridges plus all your volunteers. Along with the 3 wise men of endurance with JR, Ian William's and Rod Fisher.
Please thank the Landowner and the caterer for the delicious post 80km chilli.

What an amazing weekend. Krakatau joined the elite 100 mile club yesterday with 2nd place at Spring Kings Forest CEI 3star 160km. A mentally tough ride but my boy is so honest and happily kept going for me. Such an honour that your horse is so willing, a true partnership.
This morning he is bright and very well. Knowing he's happy makes me very happy. A few months rest ahead for him now. It's been full on training for months in testing weather conditions. Least he now can enjoy the spring grass and the sun on his back.

What it means when your baby horse WINS her first British Eventing Official event of the season! 🏆🥇 Rising 6yo DEODORO FAER was absolutely perfect scoring a 26 dressage and a double clear to win the BE105 at the lovely new event Oxstalls! I couldn’t be more proud of how this mare has come out after her winter holiday. She was nothing but a dream. 💕

Finally a training day in nice weather. No storms, hailstorm, wind or rain. A frustrating few weeks as not really been able to fit in our full scheduled training. Today made full advantage and Breeze did 16km of steady canters on the beach. She's such a happy little mare and so enjoys her own time on the beach without the hassle of boys and all the feed is hers once we finish.
Looking at the Enduro Equine, I certainly give it some hammer. I've been using this system for almost 12mths and once the sleeve is cleaned up looks like new. Especially after all the sand & seawater we put it through.
