🐱💛 Did you know?

While there’s no definitive proof that a cat’s purr can heal humans, research suggests that the vibrations from a cat’s purr (25–150Hz) might have therapeutic benefits for both cats and their owners.

For cats, purring isn’t just a sign of contentment – it’s thought to be a form of self-healing, helping with bone and tissue repair. 🦴✨

Interestingly, the frequency of a cat’s purr overlaps with frequencies used in therapeutic medicine for humans, which can promote bone and tissue healing too.

👉 So next time your cat curls up and purrs on you, they might just be giving you a little health boost as well as a cuddle.

🦜✨ Did you know?

Parrots are not just colourful chatterboxes – they’re also incredibly clever parents!

Research shows that some parrot species, like green-rumped parrotlets, actually give their chicks unique “names.” 💛🐣

These aren’t names like “Polly” or “Rio,” but rather specific sounds or calls that each chick learns to recognise as their own. Just like humans use names to identify each other, parrots use these signature calls so their babies know when they’re being called.

👉 Nature’s way of saying – you’re special, and I see you.

🌱 "I fought the seeds… but the seeds won!" 🌱

This is Greg’s little boy, Ollie — and yep, it’s officially seed season!

Seeds (especially small grass seeds) can cause trouble by working their way into paws, ears, eyes and even under the skin 😬

What to check after walks:
🐾 Between toes
👂 In and around ears
👁️ Around eyes
🌾 Under armpits and tail area

If your pet is licking at their paws, shaking their head, or just not quite themselves — pop in for a check. Better safe than sorry!

🐶⏰ Your dog knows when it’s dinner time… but how?

It turns out, dogs are surprisingly good at keeping track of time.

Studies suggest that dogs use a mix of cues to know what’s happening and when. This includes:

🕒 Circadian rhythms – their internal body clock keeps them in tune with day and night cycles.

👃 Smell fading over time – some scientists believe dogs notice the gradual fading of your scent in the house as a measure of how long you’ve been gone.

🔊 Environmental cues – like traffic patterns outside, daylight changes, or regular routines in the household.
So when your dog is waiting by the door just before you get home, it isn’t magic – it’s their amazing sense of routine, smell, and internal timing at work. ❤️

👉 They really are creatures of habit, and they always know when it’s time for cuddles.

☀️ Summer Tip #1: Breathe Easy When It’s Hot!

As the temperature climbs, short-nosed breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs & Frenchies need extra care. BOAS (airway narrowing, elongated soft palate, pinched nostrils) can make breathing harder in the heat—dogs can overheat quickly or struggle even at rest.

Summer hack: keep walks short and early in the morning or at dusk. Watch for noisy breathing, snorts, gagging, or collapse—these often worsen on hot days.

This helpful blog explains the common symptoms of BOAS, the available treatments and the dog breeds this disorder affects.
