🚨 Important Biosecurity Update 🚨

Due to a recent outbreak of Equine Influenza in the local area, Saddlesdane Equestrian Centre is introducing additional biosecurity measures with immediate effect to help protect all horses and ponies attending the venue.

All horses and ponies attending competitions or using our arena hire facilities must now comply with current Equine Influenza vaccination rules.

✅ Requirements include:
• Up-to-date Equine Influenza & Tetanus vaccinations
• Correctly completed primary vaccination course and boosters
• Annual boosters kept within the permitted timeframe
• No vaccinations administered within 7 clear days of arrival

📖 Passports must accompany all horses and ponies and be available for inspection on arrival.

🐴 Event attendees:
Passports will be checked before unloading. Horses and ponies must remain on the lorry or trailer until approval has been given.

🏇 Arena hire bookings:
Passports must be presented in the shop. Horses and ponies must remain on the lorry or trailer until approval has been given before using the facilities.

Unfortunately, horses or ponies without valid vaccination records or with gaps outside the permitted timeframes will not be permitted to attend.

These measures are being introduced in the best interests of horse welfare and to help minimise further spread within the equestrian community. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

If you have any questions regarding vaccination requirements, please contact us before your visit.

My horse’s saddle slips left. When he’s been out of work, it is significantly worse.
When he sees the chiropractor it is much better.
It happens with all saddles and all riders.
Obviously I have tweaked his saddle to help but still, some days it’s noticeable.

Is he sound? Yes.
Is he comfortable? Yes.
Can the vet find anything wrong with him? No.
But sometimes his saddle slips left.

And whilst it’s my job to help prevent that, sometimes a little saddle slip is going to be your horse’s ‘normal’.
Multi agency working - saddle fitter, chiropractor, physio, vet, farrier, bridle/bit fitter is the best place to start because there are so many factors at play. But also don’t forget to look at YOURSELF. Your chiro/physio etc are also part of the team.

If your saddle slips one way then give your saddle fitter a call- there are loads we can do to help. And update the rest of your horse’s team. Let them do their thing too!

🏇Happy to have just got this full range of knee blocks from - and honestly… this is something more riders need awareness of.

There isn’t one “correct” knee block for everyone. Different shapes and sizes change how your leg sits, moves, and stabilises.

Even with the same body, riding ability changes what you need. Less experienced riders often benefit from less, not more, support to avoid bracing, while more experienced riders may suit more defined support for finer control. Bigger blocks don’t automatically mean better - they have to match you.

Your saddle shouldn’t force a position, it should support what your body can achieve. Small changes like this can make a big difference to how a rider feels and moves 👌

So happy to have these in my rider physio sessions to help riders understand how knee blocks can help, not hinder them.

Do you store your saddle like this?
Thin bars cause dents and damaged flocking.
Saddle Fitters Tip - Cover bars in pipe insulation or swimming pool noodles.
Single bar racks are also much better for your saddle.
