Not to be outdone by his classmates, Sunny sent in his homework pics of him leaving off his paws. At only 12 weeks, this pup is doing amazingly well. It is awesome to think that we can teach a dog that was only born less than three months ago, not just to leave on cue, but to instil enough self control to not to eat food on his paws just because Mum asked him gently to 'Leave'.
This is why I get so angry at the unqualified dinosaurs that take peoples' money and then abuse their dogs with slip leads and chokers because they cannot teach without using pain and discomfort. Sunny has only been treated with care, love, respect and kindness and yet, we can get these kind of results at 12 weeks by just training ethically.
Great job, Laura, we are so proud of you!

Once again. Merlot has not just aced his homework, he has totally smashed it. This week we taught 'Leave on Cue' in class. This young pup is so lucky to have such wonderful guardians who are spending so much time teaching him all the skills he needs to have just the best life.
Leaving off his paws and treats on the ground was too easy so we are now leaving cooked chicken legs, just because Mum and Dad asked him to.

We introduced a little Rally O to the platinum continuous class, and so to get those back legs working to ensure a tight left turn, we had the dogs rotating both ways around a platform on cue. Just look at Cooper absolutely smashing it.
Note 'anti' is Cooper's cue to rotate anticlockwise and 'clock' is his cue for clockwise.
How good is this?

Super impressed with our early Saturday morning pup class. Last week we demonstrated how to teach puppy to settle on settlemat. This week, when EVERY pup in the class turned up, their handlers placed their mat on the floor and ALL pups settled.
How much you get out of pup class is dependent on how much time you put in each day practising your new skills, so you can progress the following week, and this group is a lovely example of what can be achieved.
Great job, guys.

Look at Eski! Big, powerful Cane Corso who at the start of the session not only pulled when there were no distractions, but really lost it when there was a dog in sight, pulling and lunging. Half hour later we are walking nicely approaching a pile of sprats, another 15 minutes and we know how how to walk past dogs nicely on the lead, and before the session ended, wow, we're even approaching off lead dogs with a loose lead, keeping calm and even listening to Mum and Dad.
What a lovely session, with a lovely dog and lovely owners.
There is never a need to resort to slip leads, head collars and figures of 8's; training is so much more effective than suppressing pulling with aversives. We're better than that now!
Awesome job guys, be proud. You were magnificent and the boy was a star.
On another note, how well is my May doing? She's really earning her keep now. Love this dog more than life itself.

There are kisses.....and there are Cane Corso kisses 💋

Just a quick post to ask that you bear with us for a few days from Sunday, if you need to contact us. Straight from Sunday morning pup class, I will be rushing off to the hospital for a minor op. I've been told to put aside up to 6 weeks for recovery, so I've booked a couple of days off to get over it 😉. Hence, I will be out of reach for a couple of days while I fast track my healing in readiness for Wednesday evening's classes.
Please bear with us for a few days as there may be a slight delay responding to emails, messages and phone calls. Better that than me answer whilst supping the morphine 🤣.

How many times do you hear that German Shepherds need a heavy hand or require dominating and slip leads or chokers to get compliance? Absolute tosh! Putting a constricting collar or slip lead around a dog's neck is abuse regardless of breed. This is what positive training will achieve. Meet Charlie, a gorgeous Shepherd pup of just 7 months who is only into the second week of bronze course, demonstrating how he can leave a tasty treat next to his nose while his amazing Dad leaves him in a stay and walks away.
Chris has only ever treated his dog with kindness and trained with positive reward based methods. Plenty of love, patience and chicken has rewarded him with an awesome dog.
Be proud Chris, he is turning into a wonderful dog and a genuine credit to you.

Little Merlot. Only a few months old and just two weeks into pup class. Already sitting for attention rather than jumping up, lying down on cue and being a genuine credit to his awesome Mum and Dad.
Seriously this couple are amazing with their little pup; I am so looking forward to seeing the progress of this cutie.....and his pup🤣

Just when you think the pup classes can't get any cuter 🥰
We are only into week 2 and wow, how good is this class. The pups' progression is based purely on how much time the handlers put into their practice between classes and how much they take on board during the class. This class is flying already and it is already evident how much these guys are doing with their pups.
All these pups are going to be awesome!
Be proud, folks, you were all brilliant this week.

Just a reminder, the adders are still out in force this time of year on the Chase. Found this beauty today. As blessed as we are to see these beautiful creatures in their own habitat, we do need to be aware that if disturbed, they can bite and they are venomous.
They are shy creatures and will keep themselves to themselves, but your dog isn't.
Hence, keep to the main paths, keep your dog close and if you haven't got impeccable control, leave and recall, keep them on leads. It's your job to keep them safe.
Don't forget, if you want impeccable control, leave and recall, come and see us 🙂

After introducing Parkour to our advanced Tuesday class, off we went on a road trip to have a play in the great outdoors. The dogs were awesome as were the handlers. Great session guys, you blow me away every single week.
