I’m often asked Why Arthur is such a Calm well Behaved boy !
What can I say !
A) I 100% have never knowingly put him in a situation I did not think he could handle
B:: I we practiced WALK ON past all distractions human or Canine on lead from The 12 week stage .
C) is for Canines
socialisation is important
We went to Fetes ,we went on a train , on a bus , to a fair ground , into towns into a city on a bus , to fun dog shows . To The Pub . To the vet just to say Hi x
I did not Encourage him in anyway to greet any person without my input so that it was always a comfortable interaction! ( just imagine how scary this is )
I did not encouraged him to ** SAY HELLO ** ( I hate this ethos of Social)
to any other canine
Without structure :
I found his sweet spot PRAISE he loves praise
And oh yes Every walk for the first TWO YEARS was a school day
Not just 8 weeks of Puppy Class 😇
IS HE PERFECT
Oh my days NO
But all of that created a bond that’s unbreakable ❤️
A respect for Each other that’s unwavering ( unless we see a Squirrel 🐿️)
I Also absolutely buy into the
Functional Character Theory:
Every dog is born with a Functional Character.
Once you understand your dogs Character, you can help prevent, resolve or identify behavioural problems that may arise within a group of dogs, as well as knowing how best to train them.
